Collective Behavior Research In Emotional Sociology Approach

With the practice of social transformation and construction, China has not only made significant achievements and development in various areas but also sharpened and accumulated the social contradictions. Collective behavior, as a currently dominant social conflict phenomenon drawing major attention within Chinese scholars, is the result of the interaction of the social development and social conflicts, which is the key measure of the political stability, social order and social problems. Based on the Western concepts and paradigms, the scholar have tried many localization theory attempts and experience interpretation because collective behavior is becoming an important topic for the Chinese Party and government organs at all levels to study and solve in the current crisis and predicament.The study thinks emotion play an important role in the collective behavior, which is the continuos interweaving process of interest expression and emotional catharsis. Despite the basis of the rapid social change and complicated system structure, the direct cause of the collectiov behavior is the overall outbreak of negative emotion has long been suppressed. So, take the event happened in Sichuan Shifang at July2012as an example, the dissertation selects the perspective of the emotion sociology to make an analysis of the different manifestations of emotion in different stage forms through the study of the whole process within the "event-process" paradigm. The study tries to anaylas cognitive processes, emotional states, interactive logic and manifestations of and emotion in different stages in the aspect of structure, emotion and behavior. So, social anxiety and anger which come from the deprivation and injustice of the social structure will lead to group homogeneous and involvement.Group behavior have essential political, economic and social backgrounds, that obvious economic differences make deprived social group serverly suffering under the circumstances of long-term unfairness and differentiation, which can bring destructive impact on people’s lives and lead to increasingly frustration and depression generated. Meanwhile, due to the deficient of our interst expression channel, structure fracture converted to implicit emotional fracture for a really long time that led to deprivation, resentment further. Shifang, where the one of worst-hit in the earthquake happened in2008, has been in the surferring. The pain plus ecological damage and resource differentiation occurred synchronously in the process of reconstruction created haunted inventory affection which means the group deprivation and injustice.The next part uses Shifang public emotion cognition toward the Mutong Project as link for the in-depth description of the group emotin at the stage in such objective material basis, so that to summarize the perception of the hometown fall from the economic, political, institutional and ethical. And local youth students’ active participation not only set some guidelines image for the Shifang local public, but also waked the emotion has long been suppressed and increased public attention to their interest in this event.With the difference of group classification and emotional difference sequence, group homogeneous and involvement appear an escalation of center, boundary and peripheral, which is an emotional logic space system from "self " to "other","individual" to "group". Self-preservation will be ignited if center group find their interst been hurt and resistance behavior will appear. Moreover, boundary group because of their interest-related or been in the similar situation will convert to participants which arouse broader rage and reaction make the government difficule to handle. That will expand the participants’appeals from "a matter-of-fact" to an extension trendency as a result of peripheral group involvement and one-sided social opinion for fair and justice in the correspondence with emotional escalation from instinct to moral and value. Shifang experience taugh us the importance of the openness dialogue between governor and the people. The premise of the stability maintainece is to get a comprehensive acquaintance of people’s psychological mood to avoid the recurrent of the collective behavior.After the detailed analysis of Shifang protest whole process, Chapter VI summarizes the collective behavior emotional logic with the conceptual tool of group polarization. The accidental incident, as a detonator, wake up people’s resentment which will be constantly convergent and deepening on the live scene or the people gathering spot. All above will converge into a powerful stream rapidly spreading to make resentment affections accumulation through information dissemination and strengthening under the emergency standard and finally end up to a angry vent burst. Emotional polarization will lead to expansion of the population size, behavior destructive or even a reckless group aggressive behavior if the process hasn’t been effectively controlled. The study finally wants to manifest the risks and challenges faced by the social emotion with drawing the emotional trajectory of the mass incidents, that is group emotion currently has an tendency of subjective, independent and hoodlum, and tries to seek a path for the emotion management and construction at the timing of Chinese social transformation.In recent years, collective behavior in our country has becoming more and more frequent. The study apply the theory and analysis framework of the emotional sociology to give a different explaination of the currently group behavior in China that is the extremely emotion catharsis of the social discontent by the excuses made by the bottom people and a futher expression of the emotion logic relation. The study tries to use a theoretical emotion logic system to explain rapidly-changing collective behavior, explore its process and mechanism and warn us to focus on the group emotion changes. Due to the similarity of the collective behavior, the study wants to provide a special perspective for the research. On the basis of these studies, the article brings forward a new understanding about the collective behavior; puts forward a new opinion about dealing with the collective behavior; explores the role of emotion to proceed to the next step for the government, enterprises and the social public security agencies to develop the management policies, regulations and provide a basis for setting emotional "early warning" and "catharsis" system; takes a differnts tact to build a harmonious society.
