Chinese culture has tremendous ability on the aspect of cohesion and attractiveness of nationalities, which makes Chinese people and nation tremendous confident about their culture. Red culture has been created on the course of revolution, construction and reform of China. It has been a witness of the history of the Communist Party of China(CPC) and the spiritual driving force of the success of Chinese revolution and construction. And it will also be the power source of enhancing national cohesion and achieving the great renaissance of Chinese nationality in new era. As an important part of advanced socialistic civilization, Red culture also represents a developmental stage of advanced civilization of China. In the new historical stage, inheriting, carrying forward and creating Red culture and enhancing the influence, vitality and attraction of Red culture are the spiritual pursuit of promoting China’s cultural soft power and achieving socialist cultural development and prosperity.The establishment of red regime and the profound changes in social relations after new China was founded were the political and social foundations of Red culture. Red culture is a product of the era, the culture of spirit and artifacts which were formed in the process of China’s revolution and construction led by CPC, and is a valuable spiritual wealth. The basic content of red culture includes the pragmatic style of working, the idea of serving the people, the good quality of hard working, and the noble sentiments of selfless devotion. Red culture has the characteristics of struggling, masses, nationality, timeliness and advance. It has played a role of concentrating strength, mobilizing the masses and activating lives during the process of China’s revolution and construction. The most important role of Red culture was which it embodied the ruling ideas of CPC, contained the rich connotation of values and became the condensation of revolution and construction practices.After the reform and opening up, social transformation and development of our country, cultural exchange and impact between our country and foreign countries, people’s cultural quality improvement and so on all put forward new requirements and new missions to Red culture which promote the contemporary development and innovation of it. In the new historical background, the new form of expression, new carrier and new connotation of Red culture make it an important component of the culture structure, an essential source of advanced socialist culture and central part of mainstream culture. The main manifestations of Red culture in contemporary ages include red cultural tourism, red cultural chorus, red cultural web surfing and publishing, and red cultural movies and TV shows. During the development of Red culture, distortions and spoofing of Red culture had emerged. Trends of commercialization and utilitarianism of Red culture had also occurred. These negative aspects posed threats to and harmed the contemporary development and transformation of Red culture.Base on the analyses of the concept of Red culture and social background of cultural formation, this thesis analyzes the phenomenon of contemporary Red culture, and then presents the strategies and approaches for promoting red culture development and innovation following Marxist point of view on culture.Firstly, this thesis introduces what Red culture is, the expression form of Red culture and the relationship between advanced culture, mainstream culture and popular culture. It also analyzes the main contents of Red culture which contain the pragmatic style of working, the idea of serving the people, the good quality of hard working, and the noble sentiments of selfless devotion. Red culture has the characteristics of struggling, masses, nationality, timeliness and advance.Secondly, this thesis introduces the historical and social backgrounds of the formation of Red culture. It analyzes the social value of Red culture. It draws a conclusion that Red culture is the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture with Marxism core and Mao Zedong thoughts as theoretical frame. The thesis also thinks that the establishment of revolutionary regime and the profound transformation of social relationship are the political foundation and the social foundation of Red culture, respectively. The spirit of Red culture has very important historical values from the either the point of view of society, or the point of view of national and country identity. This thesis focuses on the current issues of Red culture which should be concerned and handled, such as aspects of Red culture manifestation, protection of Red culture resources, and distortion of Red culture. The thesis believes that the existence of these problems is neither helping red culture development, nor utilizing the historical value of Red culture. This thesis also proposes to clarify and criticize the factors in the red cultural connotation which are against the current trends. The thesis suggests to avoid inappropriate tendencies such as formalism during red culture dissemination and to promote the positive energy of Red culture.Finally, the thesis proposes the strategy and approach of inheriting and carrying forward Red culture. First, we should adopt creative manifestation of Red culture; second, we should promote industrialization of Red culture through the cultural restructuring; third, we expand communication channels of Red culture exchange. Forth, we should realize the comprehensive combination of ideological political education and Red culture. From these methods of expanding communication channels of Red culture exchange, thus we inherit and carry forward Red culture. In globalized cultural communication and collision, we should be constantly inheriting and carrying forward Red culture, inheriting excellent resources of Red culture, enriching and developing advanced Socialist culture and promoting national cultural soft power.Red culture is important theoretical and cultural resource for ideological and political education.
