The healthy growth of juveniles is a sign of family harmony, an indication of social harmony, and a symbol of world peace. Juvenile crime has become the regression of the family, the misfortune of school, the pain of society. Thus it raises widespread concern from various circles of society. Although there are numerous effective studies on the cause of juvenile crime from different perspectives in various disciplines, the concern about juvenile crime in academic circles is still in a differentiated state. The reason for this situation is the distinction of disciplines, the monotonicity of discipline thinking, and the absence of the integrated research paradigm and the sequential research. Therefore, attempting to break disciplinary boundaries, this research systematically explores the issues on juvenile crime and tries to construct a comprehensive, three-dimensional, and effective prevention system and intervention strategies of juvenile crime. From interdisciplinary perspectives, this research uses relevant theories of pedagogy, psychology, law, sociology. It proposes the possibility and value of the legal consciousness rooted in the self. Combining the results of empirical research and using the thinking of law, psychology and sociology, making pedagogy as the standing point, this research constructs the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self to prevent juvenile delinquency and based on the system this research proposes the correction strategies for juvenile delinquency.Based on the theoretical and empirical analysis of the relationship between self and legal consciousness, the research claims that the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self for juvenile crime prevention and correction should be constructed. The paper is divided into five chapters. The chapter 1 is introduction. This part introduces the research background, the origin of problem, the research purpose and significance, the research progress of the self, legal consciousness, and crime, the basic concept of research, the research ideas and methods. This chapter is the overall design and the starting point for this research. The chapter 2 is the basis of legal consciousness rooted in the self. Based on the relationships among the self, legal consciousness and crime, the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self is constructed. The relationship between the self and legal consciousness manifests that the healthy development of self is the key factor to curbing crime and the setback of self-development easily leads to the occurrence of crime. On the one hand, the relationship between legal consciousness and crime manifests that the macroscopic legal consciousness rejects crime and this rejection is shown as the crime of social control by legal culture, legal tradition and legal value. On the other hand, it shows the lack of microscopic legal consciousness for criminals, which manifests as the ignorance of current legal knowledge and the lack of positive affect for the law. The lack of law cognition and affect leads to the occurrence of crime which is the most severe damage to the legal belief. The healthy self and legal consciousness is the opposite of crime. Based on this, the author discusses the possibility and value of legal consciousness rooted in the self. This possibility is evident in the absorption of self, macroscopic legal consciousness as the premise of legal consciousness rooted in the self, the morality of law as the bridge of legal consciousness rooted in the self, the moral development in self as the inner meaning o of legal consciousness rooted in the self. The value of legal consciousness rooted in the self is evidenced in the social control function, the systematic characteristic and the system according with the nonlinear, self-organization and adaptive characteristics of complex system. The chapter 3, in the case of juvenile delinquents, makes an empirical analysis of legal consciousness rooted in the self. By convenience sampling method, a certain number of juvenile delinquents from a juvenile reformatory were collectively tested with standardized questionnaires. The self, legal consciousness and the formation of the relationship between them were analyzed. The main conclusions are as follows:First, the level of self-development of the juvenile delinquents was significantly lower than the normal peer group. Their self-awareness and core self-evaluation levels were significantly lower than the normal teenagers at the same age.Second, the level of legal consciousness of juvenile delinquents was significantly lower than the normal peer group. Their overall level of legal consciousness and legal value- belief in a just world were significantly lower than the normal teenagers at the same age.Third, the development level of juvenile delinquents’ parent-child relationship, peer relationship and social relationship in which their self and legal consciousness were formed were significantly lower than the normal peer group. Juvenile delinquents’ bad parent-child relationship manifested that the levels of their parenting styles and parent attachment were significantly lower than the normal adolescents at the same age. Poor peer relations of juvenile delinquents showed as the level of peer attachment was significantly lower than the normal teenagers at the same age. Bad social relations of juvenile delinquents manifested that their social support levels were significantly lower than the same age normal adolescents; the level of their social alienation is significantly higher than the same age normal adolescents. The chapter 4 is the case analysis of juvenile delinquents’ legal consciousness rooted in the self. This chapter is a narration of further complementing and deepening for the third chapter. By analyzing typical cases, it is concluded that the unsound self of juvenile delinquents begins with the poor parent-child relationship which manifests as the bad parenting styles. At the beginning of the formation of juvenile delinquents’ self, the failure of parents role play lead to the rules and orders required by traditional society cannot be internalized as a part of their self, which directly causes the lack of legal consciousness. Self and legal consciousness is symbiotic in the interpersonal relationship. The case analysis shows that not only the juvenile delinquents’ parent-child relationship is bad, but also their peer relations and social relations exist problems. Thus it demonstrates that the unhealthy interpersonal relationship lead to juvenile delinquents cannot form the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self. At the same time, case study shows that the juvenile delinquents desire the healthy peer relations and it provides a path for the formation of legal consciousness rooted in the self. The chapter 5 is the education mode of legal consciousness rooted in the self. Combined with the empirical analysis, this part further discusses the educational characteristics, subjects and methods of law consciousness rooted in the self in theory. And the educational subjects include the executors and objects. The educational methods mainly reflects the characteristic that education is carried on in the interpersonal relationships. Also, this part interprets the content of legal consciousness rooted in the self, legal consciousness embedded in the self, and the self embedded in legal consciousness and cultivation strategies of legal consciousness for teenagers. The three phases of legal consciousness rooted in the self— chaotic state, symbiotic state and syncretic state phase are discussed. At the same time, the related contents of correction treatment and education which is based on the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self for juvenile delinquents are specifically analyzed. In the end, the summary and outlook of this research was discussed. The author thinks that the formation of the system of legal consciousness rooted in the self not only can effectively prevent juvenile delinquency, but also provides a practical strategy for juvenile delinquency correction.
