Research On Marx’s Thought Of Ecological Leisure

Leisure is an important area for human’s existence and development, how to arrange increasing leisure time properly is not only a problem of our own time which have to be considered seriously, but also a realistic problem which can not be ignored by people working for ideological and political education. Marx’s theory of leisure, a necessary part of its system’s inner logic, tries to analyze the condition of human existence from perspective of leisure. The theory contains rich and deep ecological implication, which is an important dimension to identify and interpret the concept of leisure. Ecological, civilized and healthy idea of leisure encouraged by Marx provide the theoretical support and practical guidance to development of entertainment industry, and open a new direction on study of ideological and political education as well.Labor, as a starting point of historical materialism’s approach which explored creatively by Marx, has a close relation to leisure, Marx’s labor theory is unavoidable, especially the theory of alienation which offer a critical access to corresponding research. The problem of leisure concealing as a metaphor in Marx’s critic on alienated labor has already presented a logic of ecology. For the dominance of capital in capitalist model of production, the alienated labor would destroy the environment and control our way of life, as a result, an alienated leisure would appear and make the ecological problem much worse.Marx’s ecological leisure theory has rich content on ecology, which can be interpreted in many aspects. Firstly, the relation between human and nature is the principal of ecology. The profound ecological implications discussed in related area provide an intuitional ground to explain leisure theory from ecological dimension. Secondly, the theory emphasized that we have to spend free time in a positive way. Marx’s concept of leisure implied a positive view of value, that is, having free time doesn’t mean having leisure, leisure requires more, a positive way of consuming free time, so ecological leisure in Marx’s context ranked high. Lastly, the ultimate aim of leisure theory is to realize free and comprehensive development of human. The positive value presented in Marx’s leisure theory orient towards the ultimate aim, and conversely the aim turns to be a standard to judge whether leisure activity is ecological or not. Further, ecological leisure is one forms of leisure, its realization needs time and material basis as condition, and need the insurance of leisure benefits for proletarians as premise, and the development of social productivity as solid foundation.Marx’s study on ecological leisure theory isn’t only for theoretical interests, the theory has more concerns on reality. Five concepts on development, posed at the fifth plenum of the 18 th central committee of the CPC, have important significance on social reformation and development, and point the way to development of leisure as well. Ecological leisure guided by positive value in Marx’s theory share the same leisure idea with these concepts. Therefore, we should take Marx’s ecological leisure theory as instruction, base upon five concepts on development, bring forth a new culture about this subject,improve related education, encourage a way of green life, propel the operation of leisure economic, share the benefits from ecological leisure together, then the whole development of ecological leisure could be achieved. These achievements will raise the national people’s life quality, push forward building of well-off society, go further to extend and enrich the space of ideological and political education.
