| To promote and develop China from a great sports nation into a powerful sports nation is a grand systematic project, demanding a thorough understanding of the overall situation, and a strategic planning for the long term of thinking, coordination and development. This strategic planning includes topics such as strategic goal, strategic arrangement, strategic policy, strategic procedure and strategic transit, all concerning with the overall development of Chinese sports. Among these topics, the scientific and appropriate design and planning of the strategic goal for a powerful sports nation is the foremost one, since it defines the direction for the progress and strategic implementation. The development of competitive sports forms the most important part of Chinese sports and represents the core performance of Chinese sports. It is then an important and urgent task to construct a scientific and appropriate objective system for competitive sports in China to achieve the goal to develop a powerful sports nation.Based on the guideline and principle of the theory of a powerful sports nation, this study concludes that constructing the objective system of Chinese competitive sports for the development of a powerful sports nation is to emphasis and promote the comprehensive performance of Chinese competitive sports, and to promote the international competitiveness and worldwide influence of Chinese sports. The level of comprehensive performance is decided by the general development of competitive sports, for example the good results achieved at the summer Olympic Games and winter Olympic Games. The high level of performance also demands that in different sports, in different regions and at different levels there are different aspects of emphasis which are well balanced and harmonized. International competitiveness is represented by good results achieved during Olympic Games and other international events. Worldwide influence will be represented by the model and culture in the development of competitive sports with Chinese characteristics, which is unique and in leading place in international sports and shows well progress. According to the present situation of Chinese competitive sports, considering intensively the contents of the overall development of Chinese competitive sports in developing powerful sports nation, there are several important and inseparable parts which are Olympic sports (summer and winter sports), non-Olympic sports, professional sports and youth sports. These important parts demand overall design and planning to resolve all difficulties and problems in its development and the implementation of strategies. This study is made on the construction of objective system for Chinese competitive sport, and by scientific and comprehensive analysis tries to explore the road of developing the Chinese competitive sports for a powerful sports nation.The construction of the objective system of Chinese competitive sports in the aim to develop China from a great sports nation to a powerful sports nation has the following principles, that the core of development is the Olympic sports (summer and winter sports), that the development of non-Olympic sports is an important and supporting factor, that the development of professional sports should be encouraged and that the youth sports is the basic factor for development. These principles define the fundamental way and inevitable choice to develop China into a powerful sports nation. |
