| Teaching evaluation is a main method adopted by colleges to manage and control teachingquality, and to ensure the quality of talents development. In this dissertation the concept ofteaching quality evaluation, its function, subject, content, methods and systems and otheraspects of the relevant literature are reviewed to show the problems and inadequacy intraditional undergraduate teaching evaluation. In a time when higher education has becomequite popularized，it is theoretically and practically meaningful for us to develop a morediversified view of the quality of higher educaton，to construct a quality evaluation system ofmore multiple indexes，and thus to evaluate the teaching quality of different colleges indifferent ways. In this way colleges of different types can be led to carry out their specializededucation in a way of their own characteristics, thus to meet the demands of our society fordiversified talents.This dissertation described the concepts of teaching quality and different views of quality,the meaning of teaching quality evaluation and various functions, the development of the theoryof teaching quality evaluation, the complexity as well as the diversity of the college teachers’teaching quality evaluation criteria. This dissertation analyzed the relevant concepts ofclassification of colleges, its value, theoretical bases, accordings and standards. It reviewed thepractical classification of representative colleges in China, and the U.S. Carnegie classificationtype. In this dissertation, colleges are three types: key colleges, general colleges, independentcolleges∕civilian-run colleges. This dissertation constructed the basic items of collegeteachers’teaching quality evaluation which include five aspects of the teachers quality, teachingattitude, teaching content, teaching methods and teaching effectiveness.A questionnaire survey and some necessarry interviews were carried out among sometypical students from different colleges to collect information of the students’ opinions aboutthe importance of the indexes of teaching quality evaluation system, the indexes of which wereestablished on the basis of those basic universal quality standards for all colleges. Descriptivestatistics and explanations are made to the data and qualitative materials. Chi-square Tests andOne-way ANOVA are then employed to test the original data, and the results show that theviews of the students from different types of colleges on the importance of the indexes ofteaching quality evaluation presents statistically significant difference. Based on the aboveanalysis, employing the Factor Analysis and Cluster Analysis to analyze the importance ranksof the indexes so as to finally simplify the system of evaluation indexes. Then CA(CalculateAverage), AHP（Analytic Hierarchy Process）and RSR (Rank Sum Reckon) are employed to work together to make out the weight of the teacher’s teaching quality evaluation indexes ofdifferent types of colleges.In the research, the constructed system of teacher’s teaching quality evaluation indexeswas used to evaluate certain selected teachers’ teaching quality of Gansu AgriculturalUniversity. Testing the reasonabilty of the evaluation data by using Single-sample K-S Test andTwo Independent Samples Mann-Whitney U Test. The Fuzzy Comprehensive EvaluationModel was employed to evaluate the teachers’ teaching quality. Multiple Linear RegressionAnalysis in-depth helps to identify those individual indexses which have a significant impact onthe overall teacher’s teaching evaluation results, and which will thus serve as a guide to helpteachers improve their practice in some aspects or steps of their teaching.This research is basically a quantitative methods, into which some qualitative one areintegrated. The research constructed a diversified system of teacher’s teaching qualityevaluation indexes, which are established on the basis of those basic universal quality standardsfor all colleges, and the weight of which is determined by college classification standards. Thusthe system of teacher’s teaching quality evaluation indexes is blessed with the nature of unityand diversity integrated. Diversified evaluation of teacher’s teaching quality makes it possiblefor evaluation itself to function as a guide and stimulus as it is meant to, and thus helps differenttypes of colleges stand in their right position and seek for the best development in their ownspecialized fields. |
