The success of2008Beijing Paralympic Games has greatly facilitated the development of the cause of disabled persons in China, especially of disabled sport. Since then, disabled sport has enjoyed a new opportunity for substantial development. Meanwhile, some issues still exist such as how to develop China’s disabled sport in a better and sustainable way after the Paralympic Games.The United States is an acknowledged world sport power. It also leads the world with regard to disabled sport. America has accumulated rich experiences in the support system and socialized operation in this regard.The major content of the dissertation is as follows:1, Reviewing the problems in current study for disabled sport and analyzing systematically, the author observes the whole theoretical system from three perspectives and focuses on6essential areas.2, Because of the difference in political and social system, there exists fundamental difference between the disabled sport in the U.S. and in China. The author refers to methodologies like literature analysis, interview, field study, logical analysis, statistical analysis and comparative study. Focusing on6different areas of disabled sport, namely scientific research, physical education, management, competitive sport, sport activities and relationship between sport and employment, the author compares the situation in the US and that in China and analyzes both advantages and disadvantages of the two countries in their development of disabled sport. Based on the analysis, the author explores what China can learn from the US to development disabled support.3, By adopting quantitative analysis and analytic hierarchy process(AHP), the author uses America’s disabled support as a criterion to decide the weight of different-level indicators. In this case, the weighted sum should lead to a synthetical evaluation of China’s disabled sport. According to the evaluation, China fares well in competitive sport and needs improvement with regard to the employment of disabled persons where more efforts should be paid to further development disabled sport.4, Taking into consideration the national condition after Beijing Paralympic Games, the author brings up advices from perspectives like social environment, law and regulation, managerial pattern, scientific research, market mechanism, physical education and employment of disabled persons so as to promote the development of disabled sport in China.
