| With the rapid development of economic globalization and information technology, internationalization has changed the monotonous mode that universities must rely on domestic recourses. Facing the lack of resources and updated knowledge, internationalization provides new choices for sustainable innovation. The research universities in China, who take the great responsibility of talent cultivation, technology and education innovation, have transferred the passive acceptance to active strategic development, and obtaining competitive advantages is key to strategic development. However, the related theory and practice are still limited till now. This dissertation has done systematic researches below to the internationalization strategy of research universities in China, combined with the theory of strategy management and higher education.First of all, the concept of university internationalization is completed in the view of factor mobility and driving force. This dissertation studies the evolution and history of university internationalization in detail and generalizes all the concepts to two theories:the theory of process and the theory of consequence. This dissertation, based on the theory of process, combined with the factors of internationalization, completes the definition.Secondly, the development mode of active strategy is stated for research universities internationalization in China. This dissertation reviews the history of university internationalization, divides it into three stages, and analyzes the four drives:cultural drive, self-development drive, social development drive and stakeholder drive. Meanwhile, the development modes of universities in Western countries are concluded as three types:active, government-driven and passive. On this basis this dissertation concludes that the active strategy is the most important choice for research universities in China.Thirdly, the frame and route of research universities internationalization strategy are constructed. This dissertation makes a survey to80research universities in China based on the questionnaire, and therefore acquires the first-hand information. According to the analysis of the external and internal factors, together with the theory of core competence, it finds out the key factors of internationalization strategy, and thus constructs the frame and three routes of internationalization strategy.Fourthly, the internationalization strategy of research universities should be implemented by three steps:1) Organizational change. Based on the current samples, the influential factors are found out, and it comes to a conclusion that matrix organization will be the trend of research universities internationalization.2) Resource allocation. The internationalization resources are divided into three categories:fund, manpower and information. The eleven ways of acquiring the resources are presented and thus three allocation modes are stated.3) Project implementation. According to the review to the sample universities, the internationalization projects are divided into five categories. The integrated management and specific practices are presented.Last but not least, the performance evaluation model of internationalization is constructed in the active pattern of strategy. This dissertation, combined with researches before, finds out the influential factors and concludes them into five dimensions:the concept of university internationalization, the strategy of university internationalization, the policy and principle of university internationalization, the supporting factors of university internationalization and performance of university internationalization. The structural equation model is adopted to build up the model of influential factors in university internationalization. Furthermore, the model is amended by the test of validity. The case of USTC(University of Science and Technology of China) confirms the effectiveness of this model. |
