From the ecological perspective of higher education,this paper uses the basic theory ofhigher education ecology to research on the history, the present situation and the development ofhigher education in Jiangsu. This thesis proposes the strategy to optimize the higher educationaldevelopment in Jiangsu.The first chapter provides the general condition of research included the contents, status athome and abroad, direction and methodology, theoretical significance and practical value. Thispart mainly emphasized the argument that to facing the challenge of the constantly changingcircumstances, higher education must keep reforming and innovating to improve its vitality inorder to cooperate with the surroundings harmoniously.The second chapter summarizes the basic theory of higher education ecology. Highereducation ecology is the practical appliance of education ecology in higher education fields. Withmain contents being ecological environment, ecological structure, ecological function, basicprinciples and rules, behavioral ecology, ecosystem evolution, ecological development test andevaluation etc. Higher education ecology is the concrete application of educational ecology in thefield of higher education and its basic theory can be regarded as an important and theoreticalfoundation.The third chapter inspects the Location and historical development of Jiangsu highereducation ecology. The natural environment, economic and social development of the province,had a major impact on the emergence and development of its higher education. Taking theten-year "Cultural Revolution" as a turning point, the author divides the development of Jiangsuhigher education into three stages: initial stage, stagnation stage and rapid development stage. Byreviewing the history of the development of higher education in Jiangsu from1949to2013, andsummarizing the law of educational ecology in education from a historical perspective, thischapter provides a historical support for the formulating of the development strategies.The fourth chapter Analysis Jiangsu higher education ecological problems and thedeveloping target. According to the medium and long-term educational reform and developmentplan of the province and the nation, from the view of educational ecology, this section analysesthe main problems of Jiangsu higher education, clarifies the basic ideas for the reform anddevelopment, and decodes the overall goal of the development of higher education from2010to2020.The fifth chapter to the ninth chapter, guided by achieving the development aim of Jiangsuhigher education, puts forward five strategic measures of Jiangsu higher education ecologicaldevelopment. One is to enhance its vitality of Jiangsu higher education ecological. The higher education’svitality is the realization of Jiangsu from a large educational province to a strong one, which mustrealize this change to the Department in charge of education transformation of functions,decentralization, expand the autonomy of running a school, the establishment of governmentmacro management, independent schools, active participation of social ecological system anddeepen the reform of the internal management system, and actively explore the establishment ofmodern university system. Strengthening the construction of campus culture in universities,increasing investment in higher education, to promote the healthy development of private highereducation. Establish talent cultivation in the central position of the University, pay attention toimprove the quality of talents training.Two is to improve the ecological environment of higher education in Jiangsu. The externalenvironment is an important condition to promote the development of higher education. From theeducational ecology main body and the surrounding environment perspective, it analyses thesituation of Jiangsu higher education and the natural environment, population resources,economic environment, political environment, cultural environment interaction, mutual influence,and puts forward the improvement of Jiangsu higher education external environment measures.The three is to adjust the overall ecological layout of Jiangsu higher education. Due tohistorical reasons of economic and social development, there is a great difference between thedevelopment levels of higher education in every area of Jiangsu. From a regional perspective, itanalyzes the distribution characteristics of Jiangsu higher education and compares based on thehigher education in the South Jiangsu, the central Jiangsu and the northern Jiangsu area and putsforward some countermeasures on the adjustment of the overall layout of Jiangsu highereducation.Four is to optimize the ecological structure of higher education in Jiangsu. Educationdepartments are in charge of allocation and management of higher education resources. From thestudy of graduate education, undergraduate education, higher vocational education of differenteducational levels, analyzes the characteristics of higher education ecological hierarchy inJiangsu, discusses the method and effect of basic teaching state data and puts forward to optimizehigher education ecological hierarchy measure in Jiangsu.Five is to realize the sustainable development of higher education in Jiangsu. Sustainabledevelopment is the inevitable requirement of the ecological future development of highereducation in Jiangsu. The measures that control education ecological carrying scale and maintainmoderate development are put forward from the perspective of "University Resource Planning";the measures that improve the dissemination of knowledge system are from knowledgeproduction, processing, dissemination and application and the measures that extend the cycle lifeof the teacher’s academic are from the importance of the subject status of teachers. In the "cloudcomputing" and "data" technical background, the future development of Jiangsu higher educationare discussed in this chapter.The tenth chapter is the summary. It points out the basic viewpoints of this research and themain conclusions, as well as the main innovation of this study and the main problems. Jiangsu higher education is at a critical stage of connotation type development.Development strategies put forward by theory of ecology of higher education, have importantpractical significance for the promotion of a comprehensive, harmonious, and sustainabledevelopment of higher education of the region.
