Moral education is the process in which the interaction and communication of the emotion and soul between teachers and students, and the education which makes students towards goodness and directly focuses on the person and his development. At present, the status and role of the university moral education are being increasingly prominent but the unsatisfactory effects of moral education are the major problem, and the deviation in epistemology and the unscientific practices in moral education have worsened the issue. To improve this situation, the way of thinking and value orientation of the university moral education need to be cleared, so is its corresponding scientific practices. Based on the author’s working practices, study reflection and the integration of the goodness in both aims and means, the thesis presents a comprehensive study in the theoretical basis, content and methods of implementing people-oriented moral education in universities from the angle of theoretical construction and practical exploration. Taking both the theory and practice into consideration, the study not only further enriches and extends the system of moral theories but also provides new angles and reference for implementing the university moral education.The study mainly focuses on the following four aspects. First, after the analysis and reference of Marxist human thought, educational human thought, philosophy of higher education and the relation between morality and human nature, the paper makes the theoretical construction from core idea, practical idea and objective idea, clearly states that the university moral education should take people-oriented idea as its core idea, stick to the views of practice of self-construction under the guidance of value and aim at cultivating modern citizens who have positive moral self, which provides theoretical basis for further study with people-oriented moral education.Second, it discusses the integration and the deviation between “in fact” and “should”from the angle of people orientation by quantative studies and ways of “being present”. The problems and phenomena hindering students’ moral development in the college are probed into, which provides realistic basis for solutions to improving moral education.Third, the historical and realistic basis of value content construction are explored through the search from the development course of the university moral education, students’ moral development,characteristics of the times and the mission of colleges and universities.Reference to thought and moral wisdom are sought through the theory and practice of foreign moral education course and Chinese traditional moral thought. So the multi-dimensional content of the people-oriented moral education in the college, with responsibility, integrity and goodness as substance, gentleman’s personality, humanistic spirit and scientific spirit as core value, can be constructed.At last, based on the moral theories and their contents, moral education practice is explored. The basic conceptions are expounded which include the basis of interaction, the importance of integration of emotion and ration, and the key of integral consideration Basic methods of moral education, such as persuading, setting up models, praise and punishment,are analyzed from the aspect of psychology. Then, it makes a study on the effects of art education, introduction of classics and theme education activities on developing morality by appreciating art, cultivating morality by reading and promoting morality by actions respectively. In the end, it discusses the comprehensive application of people- oriented moral education methods, including course education, teachers’ ethics education and management education.
