The development of a subject needs periodic summary, carding and retrospection. As a basic research, the curriculum and teaching theory (hereinafter referred to as the "subject") researchers in China did a lot of useful work, had achieved plenteous research results. The research results may be fettered by the traditional research methods, so they are basically relying on the experts understanding of the subject, review and analysis this subject subjectively from vast amounts of literatures. Indeed, this kind of research paradigm is common and important in the study of education science and social science, but it is easily trapped by the subjectivism and empiricism, so it is difficult to dig out the scientific elements in the development of the subject from the complex and large amounts of information and find the commanding heights of the subject and the dynamic rule of subject accurately and timely. As a knowledge management tool, knowledge map can effectively overcome these shortcomings.Knowledge map is a special graphic chart which reflects the development process of scientific knowledge as well as the structural relationship; it displays the large amounts of information by visual images, namely data mining, information processing knowledge measurement and graphics. This thesis will adopt the knowledge map which has been accepted by the scientific community,9841theses as data source that comes from Chinese figure classification number G42*which belongs to core periodical of China Academic Journal Network Publishing Database from2000-2012, and curriculum teaching materials, teaching methods. Then show the current research status of this subject in the new century by knowledge map and visual chart. On this basis, in order to make up the defects of knowledge map, this thesis combines with the traditional literature research method, selective reading, critical analysis and summary extraction were processed for the core literatures which were selected from the9841articles on the basis of the writer’s existing knowledge and experience. At last, the writer determines the research hotspots, research frontier, disciplinary paradigm and cooperation network and so on the four aspects and dimensions, scanning and displaying Chinese curriculum and teaching theory since the new century.This thesis conducts a comprehensive examination on the subject according to the above research ideas, perhaps change and innovation of the research method. This thesis also has some surprise and discovery:Hot research field in this subject changed steadily, and expands gradually, the research objects are more specific and gear to the needs of practice, more contemporaneous and policy at the same time, the core concepts of this subject become more clearly, reconstructed and innovated on the basis of the former theories.Research front strives to make the international new theories, new ideas mix together with our local practice. The research perspectives of this subject are improved step by step, the theoretical basis is more diversified and internationalized, and research orientation of this subject is gradually performed by the mixing of science and humanities.The research paradigm of this subject pays more attention to the combination of theory and practice, the research methods of the writer changed steadily, and the academic echelon is formed gradually, but it does not form a particular and stable academic genre, the research methods are speculative and become more diverse.The collaboration network connectivity of the writer is lower, academic relationship between the researchers is loose and the research team is isolated, which impeded the development of subject to a certain extent. The author diversified the co-authored type, the discipline cooperation channels are expanded, and cooperation platform attracts more attention.Institutional cooperation network is relatively loose, center effect of the minority research institutions in the whole cooperation network is very significant, geographical proximity is an important factor which has a significant impact on the cooperation pattern. It should be noted that as an analytical tool, the knowledge mapmethod also has some limitations, such as, selection and analysis of the literature will be affected due to mark the "key words" casually by the writer. Secondly, knowledge map can not find and solve all the problems in the subject research, it can only reflect the situation of the subject objectively, just like CT, blood tests which can not issued a prescription for the physical tester, it also can not find the sources of the problems for the researchers and can not provide the countermeasures for researchers and policy makers. However, the analysis diagnosis plays a very important role during the research of a certain subject. Although this thesis tries to make up for the defects according to analyze the literature and read it deeply and the writer did a lot of hard work, the research conclusion may still need further discussion. The writer believes these defects can not affect the necessity of the research and the reference value of the research conclusion.
