The implementation of connection between secondary and higher vocational education, which can promote the scientific development of vocational education and construct the perfect modern vocational education system, is the foundation of sustainable development of vocational education. And the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education is a key point for the success of coordinated development of secondary and higher vocational education. Thus the connection of majors has become an important task of the reform and development of vocational education in the new period. This study, based on the current situation of vocational education, following the logical order (Why to study? What to study? How to do? How to guarantee?), focuses on the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. The answer to why to study will be found from the construction of vocational education system at the national level and the requirements of running schools at the vocational schools level. The object of study will be decided from the construction of structure theory of connection of majors to problems found in questionnaire and interview. The practical paths for the connection of majors will be found from international reference and domestic experience. Thus, the solution to how to do is found. According to structure theory, aiming at practical paths, the security mechanism of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education will be set up. So how to guarantee is solved. The thesis takes the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education as the main thread, professional specification, professional directory and professional connotation as the joining point. The professional specification and directory are preconditions that are planned and carried out at the national level. The four elements of professional connotation, training objectives, curriculum standards, professional faculty and teaching resources are the main contents that are carried out by secondary and higher vocational schools. The top-level design and collaborative management are the external environment security. All these are presented as a three-dimensional structure, from top (the professional specification and directory that are planned and carried out at the national level) to bottom(training objectives, curriculum standards, professional faculty and teaching resources that are carried out by secondary and higher vocational schools), from inside(professional connotation) to outside(external environment). All these elements interplay and mutually reinforce. The structure theory of connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education is the basis of the study. The concrete research contents are as follows. The first chapter is introduction. The thesis, beginning with the research background, specifying demands of the study on the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education, analyzing the theoretical and applied value and the domestic and foreign review, puts forward the research hypothesis and designs research framework. The second chapter is the theoretical basis of the study on the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. The thesis, defining some basic concepts, such as connection, major, secondary vocational school, higher vocational school, and connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education, establishes two perspectives of analysis:national will and educational entity. Through the analysis of the status of the connection of majors in modern national planning system and the design of the practical paths for the connections of majors, the thesis constructs the structural theory of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. The third chapter is the survey and analysis on the current connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. Taking some typical economies as samples, the survey is designed from research purpose, research object, sample description, research methods and tools. Furthermore, using questionnaire and interview, the results will be analyzed and conclusions will be drawn, which can clarify problems in the ineffective connection of majors and offer basis for the design of paths for the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. The fourth chapter is the foreign experience of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. Though there is no equivalent expressions of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education in developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States, it is meaningful to select some measures and make use of better experience which are close to the study to look for significance of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education and to meet the demands of our native study. The fifth chapter is the experience in our country in the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. The thesis, through summing up various kinds of models of the connection of majors in our country, from the practice of our country, extracts three models of the connection of majors, namely, "close self-circulation connection model", "relatively close piecewise continuous connection model", and "loosely free connection model". From the practice of schools, the thesis extracts the following models:"close integration development model", "relatively close alliance connection model" and "loose collectivization connection model". And their definitions, model constructions, running systems and mechanisms of the above-mentioned models are analyzed respectively. The sixth chapter is the design of practical path for the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. In view of the current problems in the connection of majors, the thesis seeks paths that are suitable for the connection of majors from the following elements:professional directory specification, professional personnel training objectives, professional curriculum standards, construction of professional teachers and professional teaching resources. The seventh chapter is the security mechanism of the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. In order to effectively guarantee the paths designed for the connection of majors, combining the structure theory, the security mechanism is set up.The last part is conclusion. The study, aiming at research questions, through analysis and argumentation, draws six conclusions on the connection of majors in secondary and higher vocational education. Firstly, the structure theory is constructed. Secondly, the questions on five aspects in current practice are found out via survey. Thirdly, learning from the experience of developed countries, the inspirations on five aspects are obtained. Fourthly, the advantages and disadvantages of the six practical models in our country are pointed out. Fifthly, the paths for the connection of professional specification and directory are designed. Sixthly, the security mechanism should be designed at three levels to ensure the effective connection of majors. The study brings forth the following three new ideas on theory construction, research perspective and research paradigm respectively. First, the structure theory is designed. Second, the research system (from hypothesis to indicative and imperative) is constructed. Third, the "one-two-four" three dimensional research paradigm is set up.
