In a few years after the first AIDS cases in the United States, AIDS introduced in Asia, and spread rapidly.20 years later, in Asia, more than 9 million people are infected with HIV, of which millions of people died of AIDS-related illness, while in China about 74 million(56-92 million)were living with HIV. However, such a high figure can not express the suffering and torment of HIV-infected persons and their families. Accompanied by the deterioration of health conditions and pain of diseases are social stigma and discrimination. Virus infection did not arouse sympathy but condemnation and exclusion.AIDS epidemic not only because it discriminated against the spread of civilized society by the shame that behavior, such as injecting drug users, men and male sexuality and prostitution and so on with a relationship, seem to be more subject to prejudice the deep traditional culture, which resulted in China AIDS anti-discrimination advocacy suffered rejection and moral panic. At present, China’s AIDS epidemic on the push factors and transmission patterns and trends of small, which makes people’s understanding of AIDS, there are two errors. Some people think that the mainstream traditional values of Chinese society will protect them from HIV infection, AIDS, high-risk behavior can only be popular among marginalized groups. While others were in a panic that, in view of the spread of the AIDS epidemic in some countries, China will usher AIDS pandemic or even that there will be more adults will soon be infected with HIV.In the past few decades, we continue to have new understanding about China’s AIDS’epidemic. What is the hazard of AIDS-related stigma and discrimination against country? Who will bear these losses? What is the best strategy against the AIDS-related stigma and discrimination? Most of these problems are still out of satisfactory answer. It is necessary to have a comprehensive and in-depth study towards AIDS-related stigma and discrimination’s population in order to provide an important, viable, long-term sustained response. This study, by survey of some social workers’ AIDS-related knowledge, attitude and behavior in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is designed to explore the feasibility of anti-discrimination and starting point of social workers involved in AIDS work.
