The seventh census shows that the total number of floating population in China is 376 million. And that of migrant children in compulsory education is 18.974,500(National Bureau of Statistics of the People ’ s Republic of China,2020).As a new group in cities, children of floating population suffer from discrimination in economic status, prejudice in cultural concepts, misunderstanding in self-identity and rejection in identity to varying degrees. We call the migrant children ’s subjective discrimination perception in the above different life and learning situations as discrimination perception.Perceived discrimination has an important impact on the future growth and development of migrant children. Therefore, how to improve the perceived discrimination of migrant children and better promote the social adaptation of migrant children has certain practical significance for solving the series of problems of migrant children. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, this study starts from the effect of migrant children ’s perception of discrimination on social adaptation, deeply analyzes which dimensions of social adaptation are affected by perception of discrimination, explores the possible problems of different dimensions, and formulates social work intervention methods according to specific problems.Based on the social work practice of Liangmian Temple in Kunming City,Yunnan Province, this paper preliminarily judges the perceived discrimination of migrant children in schools through field interviews, and conducts a questionnaire survey on 114 students in schools.Through the analysis of the statistical results of the questionnaire data,it is known that discrimination mainly exists in the interpersonal communication process of migrant children. The migrant children in this school have a high degree of discrimination perception. The relevant data analysis results show that migrant experience has a negative correlation with migrant children ’ s discrimination perception.According to the linear regression equation analysis, discrimination perception has a significant negative impact on multiple dimensions of migrant children ’ s social adaptation, mainly manifested as cultural adaptation and psychological adaptation. At the same time, combined with field interviews, this paper further analyzes the causes of the effect of social adaptation. In the intervention stage of social work, guided by social learning theory and symbolic interaction theory, intervention and service are carried out mainly through group work, family and school. The evaluation results show that at the school and family level, providing a positive and understood atmosphere for the group members, establishing problem awareness and example awareness, combined with peer support groups of different ages in the face of negative events can help to improve the perception of discrimination caused by individual internal factors(such as emotion, attribution style),and help to improve the self-awareness of the group members at the individual level, improve social adaptability,so as to improve the degree of discrimination. The study found : 1.Migrant children ’s perception of discrimination is universal;2.There is a correlation between perceived discrimination and social adaptation among migrant children;3.Social work intervention in migrant children’s perception of discrimination has a professional advantage and complements family, school and other major areas of life;4.Social work intervention in the design of migrant children’s perceived discrimination programmes should integrate the application of social work professional methods, taking into account the characteristics of children’s development stages, and the intervention should be converted to long-term projects.
