Urban sustainable mitigation is the basis of urban sustainable development. Through the research of multi-level evaluations and design strategies, Urban space aims to give full play to the active role of urban mitigation from the whole disaste process and multi-hazard to construct resilient city with integration of uban space怂On the base of research results at home and abroad, Urban space system of, as the starting point of urban mitigation, is constructed through the intergation of disaster science, ecology, urban design theory to built up a space system of resilience city and form the systemic strategies of sustainable mitigation assessment and space design.Firstly, based on the urban space, the concept, core and characteristic of design of resilient urban spatial system based on sustainable mitigation are put forward. Secondly, multi-faceted space mitigation system, including target and position, foundation, multi-hazard space response, multi-level space conposition and design steps is build up to form the theoretical system of resilient city with sustainable mitigation space. Thirdly, two cores are proposed. One is the tactics of long-term ecological disaster reduction with the environment resilence raised. The other is to satisfy the demands of short-term relief refuge with emergency response capability raised. The urban disaster assessment and space design methods are sumed based on the two crucial cores.Tianjin, as a case study, is analyzed space mitigation methods based on the analysis of the existing problems as well as the demands for relief refuge in urban space. The reasonably sustainable mitigation system of urban space is proposed in order to build the Tianjin space system with resilience.
