The comprehensive research on traditional architecture culture of HexiCorridor in Ming and Qing Dynasties, is the sub-issue of research on traditionalarchitecture and its protection in Gansu and Qinghai provinces which is the keyproject sponsored by National Nature Science Foundation. This dissertation is aimedat a more detailed and in-depth analysis of the Hexi Corridor in Gansu buildingcultural landscape of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, combing the Hexi traditionalarchitecture development process, creating ways and urban construction.Hexi Corridor is located in the key point of the cultural exchange lane-Silk Road,being multi-cultural symbiosis. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, in order to adaptthe geographical conditions and cultural background of the Hexi Corridor region,Hexi Corridor construction in the layout, shape and decoration formed uniquearchitectural features and developed a relatively independent the Hexi constructingcrafts. Cities and towns in Hexi Corridor were constructed in the background of themilitary struggle, particularly in the north line of defense of the Ming Dynasty and theestablishment of Gansu town, laying the basic size and form of the towns in Hexiregion. With the stability of society and the population growth, Hexi cities and townsconstruction in the basic pattern formation in the early Ming, experienced the newprogress, a lot of construction activity started in the town of Hexi, generating diversebuilding types.As the basic research of the traditional architecture of the Hexi Corridor region,this paper focuses on the traditional disciplines of archeology, architecture, historyand the cross-analysis of the Hexi Corridor architectural history and regionalarchitectural culture change, trying to establish the entire Hexi the macro overallknowledge of the construction. Meantime, the related documents, existing buildings,architectural archives and research outcomes are integrated to establish the completedinformation system and research framework in order to lay the foundation for furtherstudy in future.
