DianShi(殿试)was carried out by the rulers of ChaoXian Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. It was a very important selection tool. CeWen(策问)was one of the important test subjects in DianShi and the key factor of ancient examination systems(科举制度). As an examination type of writing, the DianShiCeWen(殿试策问)has a long history in ancient Korea and China. CeWen was an examination question by the Emperor. It originated from the age of Han WuDi when people recommended by local governors were tested by asking solutions. And DianShi originated from the age of Tang WuZeTian. After that, CeWen has become an important evaluation tool for personnel selection by the ruler. The ruler asked examination questions on current issues of politics, economy, military, social customs, and science, etc.Korea and China have been closely connected to each other in every direction for thousands of years. In ancient times Tang and Song Dynasty in China had important effects on an ancient examination system of Korea. ChaoXian Dynasty of Korea and Ming Dynasty of China were the absolute authority of the king. In both nations, the fundamental political and cultural ideology were Confucian. These political system and cultural ideology were reflected in DianShiCeWen that was questioned by the king. The King’s ideology of the ruling was also reflected in there.The purpose of this study is to compare DianShiCeWen of ChaoXian Dynasty of Korea and Ming Dynasty of China and to analyze the creation and development of institution, its function and related systems. The forms, types and usages of ChaoXian’s DianShiCeWen were related with Ming’s. By comparing both dynasties, we can better understand similarities and differences of political system, cultural ideology and the ruler’s ideology of the ruling, etc. To this end, comparative study and literature review were used. In addition, statistical methods were used in this study. The findings in this study are very interesting. The examination questions in both dynasties reflected the situation of the times and the ruler’s ideology of the ruling. The books cited in the questions had some differences. For example, Mencius was frequently cited in ChaoXian Dynasty but not cited at all in Ming Dynasty. The national interests were also the difference between the two countries. DianShiCeWen helps to identify the bilateral political, economic, military and cultural situations. This study will contribute to identify the similarities and differences of ChaoXian Dynasty and Ming Dynasty in the given period.
