College students are the future and hope of a country."Enhancing morality and fostering talents" is the fundamental task of higher education. In face of the development of multi-culture and multiple values under the world pluralistic trend, it is one of the core tasks of the college students’ideological and political education on how to effectively use the Marxist theory to arm their minds and guide them to foster correct outlooks on the world, life and values. College students’core values are reflections of the main features of the ideal, belief, faith, morality, ethics, quality, personality and life goals. The goal of the education of college students’core values is to foster future constructors and successors equipped with socialist ideology and required by times under the guidance of the socialist core value system. Relying on the role and function of the ideological and political education in colleges and giving cultivation and guidance of core values to college students comprehensively will actively help resist the erosion of backward and decadent culture and the influence of wrong thoughts and firmly establish socialist core values.The importance and urgency of contemporary college students’core value education demand that we should actively cultivate and shape the college students’core values. Currently, superpower competitions have entered the era of taking core values as the fulcrum. Strengthening the college students’core values education is a necessity under the development of the international situation in the new period, a requirement of the steady development of society in China’s economic reform.Whether it could help college students to establish a correct outlook on the world, life and values, especially to help and guide college students in cultivating and practicing the socialist core values, concerns the long-term development of the country as well as the growth of college students.Reviewing the development of college students’core value education since the reform and opening up, we could summarize main practices and experience of their core value education. Stressing the ideological and political education, constantly innovating the traditional methods on values education, and grasping the mainstream ideology have ensured the orderly conduct of values education; the constant optimization of college teachers, the continuous innovation of education forms, and the inheritance and development of excellent traditional cultural values are main experience and practices of college students’core value education in the past thirty more years since the reform and opening up.Of course, there are also prominent problems in contemporary college students’ core value education. Failure to provide simple and easy-to-remember contents on core values, inadequate attention to practice teaching, educational modes not wholly adapted to the change of education space and the quality of education subject of core values education to be improved are factors hindering the development of core value education. The reasons are as follows:hysteresis in educational concept on core values, false social thoughts in contemporary society and the multi-culture have affected the development of college students’core value education; the role of teaching staff for ideological and political education has not been fully played; the social moral problems and false social value orientation are incentives to college students’false values. By reviewing college students’core value education and analyzing the existing problems, we try to start from these problems and solve them, thus promoting the reform and innovation of college students’core value education.Analyzing and summarizing the features of the core value education in some other advanced countries will provide reference and suggestion for college students’core values education in China. The college students’core value education in many foreign countries has began earlier than our country, and they have experienced a lot of changes and got some basic experience of success. Such as the government attaches importance to the core value education, especially in subject teaching, stresses the inheritance and development of traditional values in China, the function of hidden curriculum and the role of society and family to achieve "all-member cultivating people", respecting students and encourage active participation, etc., which are all concepts and methods worth learning.Scientifically condensing the basic meaning of college students’core values is the premise of good values education. College students’Core values reflect in two main aspects:The first one is the ideal goal, including politics, ideas, ideals, beliefs and other contents; the second one is the life goal, which includes talent, personal development, basic qualities, etc. By concisely analyzing the basic principles and the basic theories of college students’core values, the thesis states the following points:on one hand, the contemporary college students’core values should reflect Chinese national features and the spirit of times, should possess the uniform value standard and ethics and cover the national self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance patriotism and the hard working spirit; on the other hand, the core values of contemporary college students should accord with the characteristics of college students’physical and mental development, which can be summarized as "loving the country and the party, self-independence, valuing morality and being trustworthy, seeking truth and goodness." College students’ core values mean to adapt the needs of college students’ development, reflect consensus of their value ideal and pursuit, base on reality and lead the future, and dominate college students’values.To give a full play to the important role of the core value education in contemporary ideological and political education of college students, it is necessary to orient and summarize college students’ core value education, and put forward educational methods, ideas and measures. College students’ core value education includes such main contents as ideal and belief education, basic Marxist theories education, patriotism education, socialism education, collectivism education, virtue education, etc. College students’ core value education should adhere to the main channel and give play to effective methods of positive education, such as ideological and political theory courses and other philosophy and social science courses, campus culture, practice education, education, model education, etc. Meanwhile, we should stress the value education, bring the moral education, civic education, spiritual education and personality education into value education, carry out a series of value education activities such as the cultural value education, emotional value education, life value education and aesthetic value education based on a specific carrier, and give a comprehensive play to values education. In the work of college students’core value education, strengthening the practice and cultivation of the socialist core values and leading college students to shape their core values with socialist core values are our recent important work and task. We should dig deep the excellent core and spiritual essence of Marxism and Chinese traditional culture, find the point for combination and further promote the construction of socialist core values. In addition, we should value the potential role of recessive education, make group education and individual education complement each other and strengthen the self-construction guidance of college students’core values under all-media environment. With these multi-pronged methods, we will jointly promote the spontaneity and consciousness of college students’core values.The quality of education subject of contemporary college students’core values is vital to the effectiveness of college students’ core value education. The subject here doesn’t refer to a teacher or a student because both subjects affect the effectiveness of education. This thesis mainly takes students, the educated subject, as the research object to enhance the subject quality because of two reasons:one is the author’s identity, which is more dedicated to the study and exploration of students; the other is that the author believes the formation and improvement of students is more apparent because the subject of core values discussed in the thesis is college students. What’s more, the object and the subject of core value education are also college students. The teacher is also a subject, but teachers, resources and the environment are just external and driving forces. But whether core values could be shaped successfully requires the self-awareness development and self-worth construction of college students. Certain forms of education require students’learning, activities and exchanges to convert into student’s individuality qualities in the self-construction. Therefore, the thesis gives the following six suggestions according to the requirement for improving main qualities of college students:establishing a new-typed teacher-student relationship of "People First" and pay attention to the main demand of students; helping students enhance the value awareness and increase the value of the selected subjects and normative; guiding students to maintain good tension and balance in social value realization and self-worth development; helping students form problem consciousness in subject teaching, and serve for their innovative thinking ability and concept of lifelong learning services; strengthening the principle orientation of campus culture and do a good job in shaping and developing the healthy personality of college students; building a practice platform and improve the innovative ability of the subject.College education is a main channel for college students’core value education. The growth of college students is indispensable to society and the social environment and atmosphere will greatly promote the formation of the core values of college students. The thesis mainly explores and studies college students’core value education at school, and "all-member cultivating people", in its true sense, should be a process of involving all members of society and achieving educational goals together. I hope that more people will be concerned about the physical and mental development and college students’core value education.
