Objective:This study was designed to observe the effect of traditional acupuncture therapy on pain reduction after total hip arthroplasty discuss its potential machenism on analgesics.Methods:62 patients with total hip arthroplasty were randomly divided into routine acupuncture group and drug intervention group(n = 31).In the conventional acupuncture group, points of Neiguan,Yang Lingquan,Huantiao,Zusanli and Xuan Zhong were used The difference of curative effect between the two groups was evaluated by pain score,patient-controlled analgesia, laboratory index(serum cortisol, serum prolactin and plasma norepinephrine). Results:There was significant difference between the acupuncture group and the drug group(P<0.05).Times of patient-controlled analgesia pumped usage:between the acupuncture group and the drug group, the difference was significant(P<0.05).Serum cortisol levels was significantly higher after treatment in the acupuncture group(P<0.05).Serum prolactin:before and after treatment, the difference in acupuncture group was statistically significant(P<0.05).Plasma norepinephrine content:within acupuncture group(before and after),treatment differences was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with conventional analgesic drugs can significantly reduce the pain of patients after total hip arthroplasty, compared with these who use analgesics alone.
