The Clinical Observation Of Tao Hong Si Wu Tang To Prevent DVT Caused By Total Knee Arthroplasty And Total Hip Arthroplasty

Objective:This paper discusses the clinical effects and the security of action of Tao Hong SiWuTang when it is applied in the preventive treatment of Deep Venous Thrombosis(DVT) caused by Total knee arthroplasty(TKA) and Total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods:Forty-four patients who had received unilateral TKA (and THA) from The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have been selected as observation objects at random from Jul2011to Apr2012so as to carry on a comparative analysis of curative effect between treatment group and the control group. They are divided into two groups, one of which within22patients(7males plus15females) are under the treatment group, and take Tao Hong SiWuTang and and Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calium(LMWH) after operation to protect DVT; the other group within22patients (8males plus14females) are under the control group, which take just Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calium(LMWH) to protect DVT. Observation:To observe the podosoma VAS scores, the swelling degree of shanks,the variation of Platelet Count index, the variation of C-reactive protein,the variation of Red blood cell Count index, and to compare the haemorrhage and DVT situation after operation of the two groups.Results:By observing the swelling degree of thighs after surgery:3and7days after operation, the curative effect of the treatment group of Chinece medicine is inferior to that of the control group of western medicine, thus the difference has statistical significance(P<0.05) three and seven days after the operation. According to the podosoma VAS scores after operation, the curative effect of the treatment group of Chinese medicine is prior to that of the control group of only LMWH, thus the difference has statistical significance(P<0.05).The amount of bleeding of the former one after the operation is inferior to that of the latter one, and the difference has statistical significance (P<0.05).According to the Platelet Count index, the Red blood cell Count index and the C-reactive protein, the differences have no statistical significance(P>0.05).The control group occurred one DVT case, while the other group not, but by the chi-square test, he difference has no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:Although the ’incidence of takcing Tao Hong SiWuTang and Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calium after the total knee arthroplasty and the Total hip arthroplasty to Protect DVT had no significant effect with using LMWH only after TKA and THA, but it can reduce the patients’ postoperative pain and swell the degree of thighs after surgery, and it also can effectively reduce the amount of bleeding of the former one after the operation without affecting the Platelet Count index. It can improve the quality of life in patients after TKA and THA with a certain security.
