Master Jing Hui (1933-2013), who was a very affecting monk around the world during the Buddhist groups in China. His teacher was Master Xu Yun who was a very famous old monk in Zen sect. Master Jing Hui was a vice chairman of the Buddhist Association of China. He proposed the Zen in Daily Life which means he wished that the Buddhist concept could use in daily life and the influence is very successful thus more and more people accept Buddhist concept. Therefore people are interesting to know about this monk. So far there is no official biography or psychobiography about him. And this is the idea of this dissertation. This study tries to analyze his mental features in theories with behaviorism psychology, cognitive psychology, educative psychology and social psychology and so on. Consider the process of his personality forming between biography and psychology and to analysis his mental features by theories. To understand the real meaning of Zen in Daily Life based on the'the need of time-spirit'and'the historical choice'.Chapter one introduces the reason of why this topic, the meaning of this topic, research method and literature reviews.Chapter two introduces the childhood of Master Jing Hui. He was raised by two nuns since he was abort by his parent. As a result, he learned'regional beyond' personality since he did not have the normal family. Finally, he identified mental process with'wished be back man'and the relation with'take advantage the mind, take care everything'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter three introduces the boy of Master Jing Hui. He learned tolerate personality between'betrayer'and'inherited'during choice different Buddhism sect and from passive accepted to rational selected. Finally, he identified mental process with'Student in Zen'and the relation with'thanksgiving and tolerating'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter four introduces the teenage of Master Jing Hui. He learned'incubate self and be a good leader'personality since he faced the conflict between superstition from social mainstream will and Zen acquirer from his teacher Master Xu Yun. Finally, he identified mental process with'Zen missioner'and the relation with'Aha in life'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter five introduces the post youth of Master Jing Hui. He learned'be accomplished'personality from the conflict between'religion study'and'uncorrected education style in college'. Finally, he identified mental process with'accomplished man in world Buddhism'and the relation with'dedication'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter six introduces the early adult of Master Jing Hui. He learned'affinity' personality from the conflict between persecuted right wing and self examination of disaster in Buddhism. Finally, he identified mental process with'innovation in Buddhism'and the relation with'affinity'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter seven introduces the middle adult of Master Jing Hui. He learned 'creative'personality from the conflict between'strong missions'and'Buddhism modernization'. Finally, he identified mental process with'Buddhism Renaissance' and the relation with'share'of Zen in Daily Life.Chapter eight introduces the post adult of Master Jing Hui. He learned'perfect man become Buddha'personality from the conflict between'inherited traditional Buddhism spirit'and'reform mission style'. Finally, he identified mental process with'Buddhism undertaker'and the relation with'propose and propagate Zen in Daily Life'.Summary, this study shows the each life stage of Master Jing Hui and how his personality formed with the mental conflict. The mental growth process of his positive personality forming process, and self identity during his each period of age and finally become the'Buddhism undertaker'of'perfect man become Buddha' personality shows in the generation, development and propagation of Zen in Daily Life just because the needs of time-spirit and the historical choice. Master Jing Hui and the Zen in Daily Life just as a explore behavior of a monk in modernize of Buddhism in so far as entire social. However it reflected the process between strong social campaign and the adaptation of Buddhism in modern China. The generative process of Master Jing Hui personality is not only because his industrious work but a result of Buddhism which try to give alternative education concept in modern China.
