Special Study On Environmental History In The Yuan Dynasty

From the perspective of Environmental History,this dissertation aims to study the interaction between the natural environment and social and economic activities carried out by vary groups in different regions,which is the Mongolian nobles as the ruling class to other ethnic groups as the main types of people,in Yuan Dynasty between AD 1206-1368,and the impact of this process on various groups.In general,due to the historical process of successive steps 10th-13th century after another south from northern ethnic,there appeared situation such as continued fighting,population decline,social vitality damaged.Certainly,the overall social economic condition is gradually restoration,man-land relationship is in a mitigate state,which did not exclude some tensions appeared in cumulative effect(e.g.flooding in the Yellow River),the pressure of the ecological environment is weakened,Yuan people expand production and living activities in the vast land area,widely interaction with the surrounding environment.In the year 1272,Kublai,Emperor Shizu of Yuan,capital in Dadu(now Beijing),and never changed again.On the basis of the Yellow River Basin,political influence rulers spread to the surrounding area,and spare no effort to the south and the coastal areas.Based on the basic historical of Yuan Dynasty,the paper discussed and research many topics,including mita activities and local agricultural development,major water conservancy construction and environment,governance of the Yellow River,malaria influence in the southern region,seawall construction in coastal areas,ocean shipping,environment factors in city construction,use and management on resource.Finally give a preliminary judgement to the living environment,basically confirms the foregoing conclusion.In this study,many thematic studies are based on local environmental characteristics,combined with historical events and characters of environmental conditions,focusing on interaction between people and the environment in Yuan Dynasty,try to explore a useful model that people get along with the environment.Each thematic involved in different areas,the environmental problems faced by Yuan people is also different,this determines the behavior of different regional populations.Based on relevant historical documents,and the research methods use of environmental history and historical geography.Try to break through time-space and cultural barriers,understanding Yuan people deal with the environment is not easy,respect for their efforts and achievements in the transformation and utilization of natural environment,treat the relationship between human activities and environment with a fair and rigorous attitude in Yuan Dynasty.As an academic trend,Environmental History pay attention to the role of people at different times,highlighting the man-land relationship,identification of ecological characteristics caused by human social and economic activities,at the same time,it has promoted the research of historical geography.Based on this understanding and from the perspective of the environmental history,the paper studies the related topics of the Yuan Dynasty,constitute an important part of the environmental history of the Yuan Dynasty.This is part of the initial contribution made by the author of the study,have a certain reference value in recognition of environmental history to Yuan Dynasty with the previous and following times.
