A Studv Of Ouyang Xiu The Perspective Of The Transformationof Art Thingking In The Northern Song Dynasty

The Northern Song dynasty(960-1127)witnessed the overall prosperity of many aspects in Chinese history including economy,culture,ideology,learning,science,art and literature.In this period,the concept of art,people's thinking pattern towards art,the style of art and its essence changed and developed a lot.In the field of calligraphy,Tie-based calligraphy art which was popular in the Tang dynasty gave way to calligraphy art emphasizing consciousness,thus creating consciousness-based or charm-lingered calligraphy art,which entered into the essence of art,reflecting the awareness of the artist's self-consciousness.In the field of painting,figure painting,landscape painting and flower-and-bird painting in the Song dynasty took on a new look,with strong flavor of scholars and in pursuit of poetic beauty of the intellectual character.In the field of music,a new style different from that in the late Tang dynasty and Five Dynasties period was created,thus opening a new age of the history of Ci in the Song dynasty.This paper focuses on Ouyang Xiu,a leading figure in the reign of Emperor Renzong(1010-1063)from the perspective of the transformation of artistic thoughts in the Northern Song dynasty.Ouyang Xiu not only advocated and personally experienced the reform of politics and culture,but also participated in and practiced the transformation of artistic thoughts in the Northern Song dynasty.He played a very important role in the Song dynasty and even in the history of Chinese politics,learning and literature.So it's very necessary and important to study his artistic activities and artistic thoughts.Based on the social foundation and ideological background,this paper firstly discusses the basis of the transformation of artistic thoughts in the Northern Song dynasty and introduces the leading figure—Ouyang Xiu's family background,origin of writing style,his career as an official,his personality and his circle of friends.His artistic thoughts reflected in the fields of literary creation,calligraphy concept,epigraphy thinking and string music theory are then expounded.His distinct personality is also analyzed in detail from the Functional Theory of Art and Literature,the Creative Theory of Art and Literature,and the Theory of Aesthetic Appreciation.And finally,the influence Ouyang Xiu had on the transformation of artistic thoughts is commented from three aspects:how he advocated it,how he promoted it and how he extended it.
