Public art is the consciousness and introspection of cultural resources and public space innovation in the context of modern urban construction.It is an important artistic style that belongs to the public and which represents the normal cultural values of the state and urban development.It also reflects the Zeitgeist,as well as the democracy and freedom of the country and the nation.Most countries and cities in the world emphasize the great importance to of public art and hope to perpetuate the spirit of urban culture,and to construct the general cultural values of the people,in order to show and promote our culture to in the world.This essay analyses the development of Chinese public art from historical perspective and is based on historical data and constructed from the perspective of cultural studies,filling the blank of Chinese public art development.It is a discourse system explaining the logical relationship between the sociological point of view and the ontology of art.It is a historical study that explores the casual relationship between the history and the modern times.Its purpose is to make a clear explanation of the development of Chinese public art,trying to present and develop the path of contemporary public art in history.This article is based on time development,Using multidimensional and comprehensive research methods to outline different stages.While describing each stage to develop its distinctive features,it also emphasizes the logical relationship between conceptual connotation,cultural policy,artistic works,academic research and important events in each stage.It aims to explore in a relatively scientific and objective way the different stages of the development of Chinese public art.Public art in China is an imported word,but It has had a special path of development within China's growth.This article puts public art before the whole background of China in the 20 th century,examining the evolution and construction of Chinese public art theory and practice.The study sets the starting point for this research at the moment of national liberation and cultural self-reliance when the New China was established.In the context of national development and social progress,it analyses the relationship between Chinese public art,national policy and national culture,clarifying the formation and growth of Chinese public art in order to explore the factors of its development.The research defines the development from 1949 to 1978 as a budding stage.It is characterized as an embryo featuring sculptures and mural postures.It has grown under the leading influence of the national ideology.The creation of the subject is marked by the idea of a “movement”,and has clear revolutionary,politicised tendencies.Personality is replaced by commonality.The work during this time presents a kind of collective consciousness of the people.The research defines the year of 1978 to 2000 as the development stage of Chinese public art development.It Is to emphasize that the creative themes of this stage began to change and that the public's ideological consciousness gradually emancipated.At the same time,fundamental management mechanisms of public art were established.The creation,organization,and management of public art received close attention.During this period,China's public art was experiencing the stage of urban beautification and conceptual change.Finally,the period from 2000 is defined as the construction stage.Chinese public art has officially entered the period of accelerated creation and improvement.During this period,intensified debates clarified the concept of public art,and the language of art ontology was gradually diversified and perfected.The boundaries of public art in practice were also expanded.At the end of the dissertation,I will come up with my own thoughts and suggestions on the development of Chinese public art according to the reality of China's social development and the policy of national cultural and artistic development.In order to show the development of Chinese public art more clearly,the study of public art in Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan is not involved.This paper detailed analysis of development of public art Chinese inland areas,but this is not the effect of public art is Hong Kong and Macao regions on the mainland by the development of public art,but focus more on the study of China inland public art.The influence of public art in Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan areas on the development of public art in inland China is worthy of recognition.
