Buddhism was missionized into China,it was integrated into the Chinese culture rapidly because of its special cultural traits,and it has become one of the indispensable factors in the structure of Chinese cultural.It can be said that our lives and thoughts are deeply affected by it.In order to gain a better understanding and research,it becomes an important work to trace the source.At the beginning of foundation of the Buddhism in Indian,the Early Buddhist schools have being divided due to the different understanding of the theory.The division started from the Sthaviravada and Mahasamghika,and then took shape into twenty schools,and even broke up into five hundred schools.The most typical and the greatest influence on later generations are just a few.Among them,it is said that Sarvastivadin is flying their own colors in numerous branches because of their unique ideas about Buddhism,and directly or indirectly influenced the establishment of the Madhyamaka and Yogacara in Mahayana Buddhism.Determine thought of the Early Buddhist schools by Tripitaka of each school,they are sutra vinaya and abhidharma.But,most of these tripitaka texts are no longer extant.As far as the canonical abhidharma texts are concerned,we are now in possession of only two complete sets:the seven texts of the Theravada preserved in pale,and the seven sarvastivada texts in Chinese translation and Tibetan translation.According toAbhidharma-maha-vibhas a,range of study is:The meanings of the abhidharma-pit aka should be understood by means of 14 things:the six causes,the four conditions,subsumption,conjunction,endowment,non-endowment.Those whoby means of these 14 things,understand the abhidharma unerringly,are called Abhidharmikas,not merely recite and memorize the words."This is to judge the complicated relation between dharmas by five methods——cause,condition,subsumption,conjunction,ecdowment.As well,that 22 faculties are putted five methods to classify and explain is a important way that study concept and nature of "faculty".Because in dharma,everything will not exist independently,they are going to produce birth and death by influence each other.Therefore,in study of the whole idea of this article Sarvastivadin,by discusses concept,classification and nature of 22 "faculties" of Sarvastivadin,and careful analysis of comparative of Sanskrit?Tibetan and Chinese,this article illuminates sages for understanding "faculty" focus on difference in process of translation,and systematically presents formationdevelopmentfundamental thought and main works of Sarvastivadin,and interprets peoples' foundation of learn and practice and a path to enlightenment,and tries to objectively and stereo to show all thoughts of peoples' structure of SarvastivadinIn the study of the whole thoughts of Sarvastivadin,this article based on the focused discussion on the theory of "Faculties",through the original texts of exploration and detailed analysis of concepts and ideas,systematically analyzes the Sarvastivadin's formation and development,basic ideas and main works,tries to show Sarvastivadin's some thoughts objectively about composition of sentient beings.
