This treatise studies the conditions of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research situations in the modern period of China, and analyzes the literatures handed to now, reflects overall concrete parts of the origin, development and varieties of the Abhidharmakosa-sastra research situations, and also highlights the different methods those scholars employed and the excellent fruits they obtained. First, the meanings of to study the conditions of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research of modern period are elaborated, and in addition, through a comparatively general method analyze the general situations of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research of modern period, and meanwhile the causes of why Abhidharmakosa-sastra research revived in modern period. In the first part of this treatise, the fruits of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research of lay people are displayed. In which, the great lay people, Yang Wenhui introduced and published the books related to the Abhidharmakosa-sastra, and cultivated a lot of people to study Buddhism which is meaningful as far as the basis is concerned. Ouyang Jian deemed that if one wants to study the Consciousness-only school of thought, he or she should study Abhidharmakosa-sastra in advance. Zhang Huasheng studied Abhidharmakosa-sastra's content in detail, in which he stressed the comparison between the thought of Abhidharmakosa-sastra and the thought of western academies by which the theoretical thinking of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research is deepened. And in next part, I mainly introduced several famous monks' fruits of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research. In which, Tai Xu's research is very profound, and he combined the thoughts of Abhidharmakosa-sastra and the revival of whole thought of Consciousness-only school, and from a global academicals pinnacle, he confirmed the importance of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research in the process of Buddhism's modernization. Yin Shun is Tai Xu's main disciple and his research in Abhidharmakosa-sastra is characterized in a protrude style of chronology and in which he studied Abhidharmakosa-sastra in a history view of Buddhism development which has high values academically. Fa Zun with the familiar ability of translation between Chinese and Tibetan have the interesting in the Abhidharmakosa-sastra study, and he spent a relative great strength to introduce the history and situations of Abhidharmakosa-sastra research in Tibet to us, which is valuable historical literature, and in addition, he can flexibly use the thought of Abhidharmakosa-sastra in reality an which showed his firm academic basis thoroughly. Neng Hai highlighted the Gelugpa Order's precepts and rules and especially explained the thoughts of precepts in Abhidharmakosa-sastra and in the process the innovation is in abundance. The third chapter of this treatise centered in some typical studies made by scholars who studied Abhidharmakosa-sastra and through the classification method of dividing them into three types in the norm of the differences of researching styles from scholar to scholar. The first type includes those who studied Abhidharmakosa-sastra thoroughly, and they are Hui Zhong, Yan Pei, Miao Jie, and Xian Wu, and their studies involved the outlook of life, the Vasubandhu's life, the difference of Mahayana and Hinayana and characteristics about Abhidharmakosa-sastra and so on ,which has certain academic values. The second type includes those who studied Abhidharmakosa-sastra partly and specially, and they are Ji An, Wei Fang, Dao Ping, Yong Xue and Kui Di,and their studies involved the related contents of Dhatu chapter and Indriya Chapter of Abhidharmakosa-sastra, and even includes some relatively deeper research of traditional comments and comparative research and so on, which embodied the plentiful knowledge of those scholars. In the third type, some normal scholars who had been generally introduced Abhidharmakosa-sastra and relative thoughts are concisely introduced. At last, I provided the conclusion of this treatise, and in this part, not only the fruits, styles and tendencies of main researchers of Abhidharmakosa-sastra in modern period are reviewed, but also the different stresses and styles of lay people, famous monks and scholars are highlighted, and last but not least ,I hold that there are succeeding relationships between our contemporary Abhidharmakosa-sastra research and the modern one and the very studies of which will benefit the former.
