Change Song Yuan

Though textual research and related image materials,this paper mainly studies the value orientation transformation of the painting appreciation in the Mid-late period of Ming Dynasty.And tries to make a new explanation for the change of mainstream painting style in Ming and Qing Dynasties.The connoisseurs in the Mid-late period of Ming Dynasty widely discussed whether the Song Dynasty or Yuan Dynasty painting was better.By analyzing the arguments on both sides of the comments,you can find the focus of the debate was on the Southern Song Dynasty palace painting style and the Yuan Dynasty literati painting style.The essence of the dispute is a reflection of the compete between the Zhe School painting and Wu School painting.In the early Ming Dynasty,the literati painting style of the Yuan Dynasty was mainly supported by the Suzhou literati who were closely related to Ni Zan and Wang Meng.But political and economic of Suzhou were suppressed in the early Ming Dynasty,made the aesthetic taste cannot be effectively spread to other regions,but only as a local tradition inherited and developed.The political and economic of Suzhou recovered in the middle of Ming Dynasty which created the condition for the revival of literati painting style.Suzhou officials in the central government actively promoted the literati painters who inherited this taste tradition,made Suzhou taste received some approval from a part of the senior bureaucrats in the capital.Later,Suzhou literati painter represented by Wen Zhengming,unable to get effective support through political ways,turned to a variety of interpersonal communication and economic activities,continue to maintain and expand the influence of Suzhou taste.But deeply involved in market transactions and the highly commercialized creation,made Late Wu School painters gradually lost their literati identity.The connoisseurs of other areas affected by Suzhou taste took the opportunity to challenge the leadership of the literati in Suzhou.Dong Qichang proposed The Theory of Southern and Northeern Schools,let Suzhou taste got strong value tendency,this theory in the later popular and widely accepted,let connoisseurs debate about the style orientation over,eventually led to the transition from Southern Song Dynasty palace painting style to the Yuan Dynasty literati painting style.
