Coordinating conjunctions are a very important part of the teaching process, which can also become a challenge.Nowadays there are many published papers and articles on the conjunctions, but less research has been done on the usage of conjunctions by the Russian speaking students. In this research we explore five coordinating conjunctions "he"("and"),"er"("and","but"),"erqie"("moreover"),"huozhe"("or"),"haishi"("or").Coordinating conjunctions "he","er" and "erqie" in Russian language might have the same corresponding word,as well as conjunctions"huozhe" and "haishi".That's why Russian-speaking students easily confuse their semantical and syntactical functions. We designed two questionnaires, all the sentences were taken from the textbooks, vocabularies and the translations of the Russian literature. In the first chapter we analyze six types of errors made by Russian-speaking students:addition errors, substitution errors, omission, wrong order, misusage and miscellaneous errors. We discovered that the highest rate of errors is the conjunction "er",the most common type of errors is wrong substitution. The research has proved that students confuse semantic relations, for example, they use "erqie" to express adversative relations. Thus,we analyzed the reasons for errors from different aspects:theoretical studies(the comparison of semantic and syntactic functions of the coordinating conjunctions),students' aspect(negative transfer of the mother tongue language, negative transfer of the target language and students' personal reasons)and teaching aspect(the compiling of the textbooks, dictionaries, classroom activities and teachers' qualifications). We also analyzed the works of Gogol,Dostoevskii and their translations into Chinese, and we found out the differences between these conjunctions usage in Russian and Chinese languages. In this dissertation we did research on the three sets of textbooks "Developing Chinese"(6 volumes),"Hanyu Jiaocheng"(Russian edition)(6 volumes)and "New Object"(9 volumes)and summarized their drawbacks:lack of systematic knowledge, lack of the detailed explanations of the conjunctions, lack of the bright examples, monotonous exercises and so on.In the third chapter we gave some suggestions for teachers and their teaching techniques, which include systematic learning order, improvement of conjunctions explanation, revising the learnt material etc.
