The Study On The Using Of Seals In Chinese Paintings

The sealsarethe epitome of the Chinese culture and theaesthetics,and the use of them on the Chinese painting is a high degree of generalization of the crystallization of the language.Nowadays,the artists consider the seal as a part of a composition;the viewers carefully try to conjecture the seal,to judge the history and the circulation of the work.Ascending to figure out the development of the seals and the Chinese painting,we know that the process of development from mutual development to mutual promotion.There is a great significance to clarify the development process for us to reflect over the relationship between the seal and the Chinese painting and to guide the practice in creation.The original form of the seal developed with the decorative patterns of the pottery,bronze.After the reunification of the six countries,the text,form and use of the seal gradually became standardized.The early union of the seal and the painting passed two paths: 1.The function of the seals as the sign of one's mark meets the need of the system of registration and the system of collection came into birth.The use of seals as personal marks became more important and it even hastened the birth to the collective seal —— a new form of seals.2.The seal used in personal creation has experienced a complex process of combining with the textual content(documents,correspondence,etc.),and then along with the text?inscription into the picture.After Yuan,the participation of the literati in the seal made the painters become the seals makers.It drove the deeper amalgamation of the seal and the painting.In the creation of the literati,the seal is not only a sign someone,but also an important element of emotion to place emotions and structure of a picture.From working with the craftsmen to produce of the seal,to deciding the content and style freely;from the using attached to the title or identification,to the using of several seals in the picture to form a form of aesthetic language which all reflect the aestheticprogress and the artistic pursuit.It has become an important problem of painters to make proper use of seals so that the relationship between picture conception and brush construction can be brought up.This paper attempts to hackle the historical causes of development of the seal using in the Chinese painting with the study of the social history of art and time clues.At the same time,the author analyzes the using of seals of some specific Chinese painting works,to clarify the history of the development of the relationship between the seals and paintings in the development process.In addition,a clear the historical significance of the development of the relationship between paintings and seals is shown through the detailed interpretation of the works of Bada,Mr.Pan Tianshou and other artists' works which helps us to make more progress in the creation.
