Australia is one of the first choices to be preferred the destination for immigrants as it is a well-developed western country with multi-ethnic immigrants of the world.Immigrant policy is the core content of the Australian national policy of"multiculturalism policy",and it plays a far-reaching significance on Australia's political and economic development.From the perspective of economy and base on the integration and improvement of the relationship research between the immigration policy and economic development,this paper analyzes the reasons of the evolvement of Australian immigration policy and its impact on the national economy so as to explore the interaction between immigration policies and economic development.Firstly,the paper sorts out the related immigration theories,puts forward the research path and analyze the economic,political and natural causes of the overseas migration.Through the economic analysis on the homogeneous and heterogeneous labor,the study shows that various factors should be taken into account when explore the effect of overseas migration on national economy,such as the type and quality of immigrants,and the disposition of the local labor market.Secondly,we first describe the economic development before the foundation of Australia and put the emphasis on the twice economic take-off.Then it comes to the characteristics of national economic development in "White Australia Policy" period.At last,it states the economic reasons of the formation of Australian multicultural and elaborates Australia's economic performance when it entries the transformation period.Then this paper describes the evolvement of Australian's immigration policies in different periods.It gives the phased introduction about the immigration policy which concludes the period of pre-foundation of Australia,White Australia Policy period and multiculturalism period.And the paper explains the characteristics of the immigration policies in different period as well as the reasons,such like varied types and number of immigrants.Finally,the paper uses a descriptive and empirical method to analyze the impact of immigration on Australia's economy.First,the chapter analyzes the effect of immigrants on labor market,foreign trade and different sectors of the whole country in the period of pre-foundation of Australia.Second,the chapter indicates that under the "White Australia Policy",the country sinks into the long term of economic downturn.In this condition,the immigrants change Australia's demographic situation and promote its rapid population growth.Third,the chapter states that in multicultural period,the implementation of multicultural policy is the driving force which promotes Australia's transition from developing country to developed country.So the diverse immigrants have made a significant contribution to economic growth.Finally,the chapter makes a descriptive and empirical research about the effect of immigrants on economy during the period of transformation.The result shows us that immigrants play an important role in promoting economic growth.There is on obviously evidence to indicate that immigrants affected local labor force but the result shows it was negative to national average wage rate.In addition,on the basis of the previous analysis,the paper explores reasons of Australian immigration policy change after the financial crisis 2008 and national economics affected.Then reasonably gives the prospect of Australia's immigration policyFrom above,it clear shows that Australian economic development is highly depended on national immigration policy's support and also it is the determinant factor to affect Australian immigration policy adjustment as well.
