Nowadays, the quality of higher education has become one of the most important educational issues. The quality of undergraduate students' learning process is not only a key component element of the quality of higher education, but also a significant factor that influences the whole quality of higher education. In order to improve the quality of undergraduate students' learning process, the author sets about the systematic study on the evaluation of undergraduate students' learning process. Based on the characteristics of undergraduate students' learning, it is the process of researching, analyzing and value judging the elements of undergraduate students' learning process by self-assessment and peer assessment. The topic of this dissertation is “How to improve undergraduate students' learning process by means of the evaluation of it”. The author tries to have an integrated research on this topic.The research contents mainly includes the following several parts: the idea, index system, mechanism, methods and models as well as application of the evaluation of undergraduate students' learning process. They centre on index system and are tightly connected to each other. What's more, Chapter I is an introduction that introduces the research background and reasons, significance, process and methods, etc., and combing the existing research literature at home and abroad. Chapter II is mainly about the evaluation idea. By exploration and research, four ideas are formed: enhancing the development of students' quality, promoting the development of multiple intelligences, dominating by autonomy, orientating for diversification. They are elaborated respectively. Evaluation index system is discussed in Chapter III. The index system has been established. It is also explained that the evaluation has four first grade assessment indicators, several second grade assessment indicators and primary observation of the third grade. Chapter IV evaluation mechanism introduces instructional framework and the partition of the subject and object responsibility. The operation modes and operation procedures has been explained. In Chapter V evaluation methods, it expounds the basis of evaluation methods and makes discrimination among self-assessment, peer assessment, qualitative evaluation, quantitative evaluation, comprehensive evaluation, and the application of methods. In Chapter VI evaluation models and application, the module of evaluation theoretical system has a model construction. The theories have been put into actions. And the application has been explored. In Chapter VII summary and outlook, the brief IV summary of relevant research results has been concluded,discussed and prospected.In order to improve the scientificalness of the research results, the dissertation mainly use four kinds of methods: document analysis, theoretical construction, investigation research and case study. Therein, document analysis is mainly used in the former literature review part; theoretical construction mostly applies in the systematic research of several parts of the theoretical system; investigation research is primarily used to make the actual survey and comparative study on the learning process and evaluation issues. It reflects in four aspects: expert interviews in constructing evaluation index system, practical investigation on the learning process and evaluation of more than 2,100 undergraduate students in 16 universities throughout the country, investigation and survey on academic atmosphere of a standard university, and also investigation and survey after the event on the learning process evaluation of part of the university students; case study is embodied in this situation: students in a natural class of a standard university, as the sample of the case study, are tracked and investigated in a semester. And the sample has been diagnosed and compared.The process of this research, carrying forward orderly, is primarily constituted by research design, research implement, research result formation and research result the empirical analysis. The technical routes of research design and implement have tight logicality: Firstly, after entrenching the research topic, the document literatures are analyzed. At the same time, the author starts on theoretical research and establishes five parts of the module of the theoretical system. What's more, it has been investigated far and wide. The research result has been empirically tested. And there are reason analysis and countermeasure research on the existing questions. In the end, exact response and conclusion have been given on the research issues. Secondly, the research result is reflected in the theoretical constitution of theory contents. Thirdly, the empirical analysis of research result mainly performed in verification of practical part. After verified, the theory result and practical result of the research shows up uniformity and consistency.By carrying out the research of theory construction and empirical analysis, the author identifies the roots and essence of the evaluation of undergraduate students' learning process. Three conclusions have been made: firstly, the efficiency of undergraduate students' learning process can be enhanced by directional guidance of the evaluation index system; secondly, the evaluation system of undergraduate students' learning process can be scientifically improved by the supplementary which practice gives to theory; third, it can improve personnel training system and cultivation quality that systematical research and practical reform put in undergraduate students' learning process and its evaluation.The innovativeness of the research mainly manifests in the following three aspects: firstly, it is the innovation of selecting the research topic. It hackles and studies on and analysis every major dimension of undergraduate students' learning process evaluation. The second is the innovation of research result. A relatively complete system of undergraduate students' learning process evaluation has been constructed. The research makes new progress. The third is the innovation of research methods. It makes good use of quantitative empirical analysis to complement and verify the qualitative theoretical research. The effectiveness and reliability of the research has been promoted.As a kind of research area, the evaluation of undergraduate students' learning process is basically in early stages. Therefore, there may be some kind of deficiency in the dissertation. By this research, it is expected to propel further sustainability research on this area and to promote the advancement of higher education reform and the scientific development.
