| Doing research should satisfy both the needs of deepening theory and guiding practices.The reason for studying moral education is on the base of my years’working practices.I have tried many ways to correct those errors of ideology and behaviors among students,such as providing evidence of facts,reasoning things out,etc.However,things do not always go well,sometimes I run against "firewall".What I learned is that reasons and facts may not work even they are correct when facing with students stubborn prejudice."Being unaccepted with reasoning things out just like putting a glass of water into desert,it turns out to change nothing." Educators and instructors may complain students’ indifference.However,we’d better pay more attention on our working methods instead of complaining the uselessness,and try to understand why our students don’t prefer to accept our reasoning.For an educator,it is necessary to reason things out and list the facts,and it is more important to work with creativity and innovation.Educational content must be integrated with practice,in addition to theories.Since theories make educational content difficult for students to understand and accept comparing with lively practices.The purpose for working with creativity and innovation is to make our students willing to listen and accept.The State Council points out in "The Important Thought on Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Education","Putting people first,staying close to reality,life and the students,making great efforts to improving the ideological and political education with its pertinence,effectiveness,attraction and influence,nurturing socialist builders and successors,featuring an all-round development in morality,intelligence,physique and art." Xi,Jinping mentioned in National Propaganda and Ideological Working Conference of 2013,"Undertaking the work of publicity and interpretation conscientiously,building up well-known at home and abroad new concepts,new category and new expression,telling Chinese stories well,spreading Chinese voices." What is implied here is that it is essential to make"packaging" for our reasoning and to make our reasoning more acceptable.This thesis includes introduction and six chapters.The introduction explicates the significance of the research topic,research background,research status at home and abroad,and the research methods.Chapter I states the meaning,contents,and the nature of narrative methods of moral education.Moral education narrative is one method of reasoning things out,which is carefully designed or chosen by those educators,aims for the ideological education.Narrative moral education includes"narrative" and "facts",which contain reasoning what and how do reasoning,and it is the unit of theory and practice."Facts" mean the objects of telling,and "narrative"means how to "tell"."Facts" are what exist,and "narrative" focuses on practices.Narrative method of moral education has its own internal logic,which includes fact,reason,emotion,situation,art,and it conforms to the rule and purpose.The nature of moral education narrative is the practice of spiritual production,which is educatees’active choice.Chapter Ⅱ and Chapter Ⅲ focus on the theoretical source and historical development of narrative moral education methods.Moral education has been guided by Marxism,which should directly or indirectly seek guidance from Marxist classical writers’ and Chinese Communists’ conception of moral education.Moral education itself is coupled with Philosophy,Pedagogy and Psychology,which means that narrative of moral education can learn from those relevant subjects.Chapter Ⅲelaborates the historical development of moral education,and concludes with the characteristics of narrative moral education methods at home and abroad.Narrative of moral education in our country has progressed from storytelling method to narrative method of moral education and narrative moral pattern.The earliest foreign researches on moral education date back to the "Poetics" of Aristotle and the "Confessions" of Augustine.Narrative method is a common way to give children moral education abroad in western countries.Many classic cases demonstrated the positive effects of narrative of moral education,such as the story of "How did Chu long convince the queen mother of Zhao",how Roosevelt was convinced into signing the Manhattan Project,etc.In those cases,narrative of moral education broke impossible deadlocks,pointed to the way out of dilemma,sometimes it changed the fate of the country and nation.This chapter specially discusses the characteristics of religious narration,folk narration,network narration and narrative of moral education of university presidents.Chapter Ⅳ and Chapter Ⅴ mainly elaborates the practice of narrative moral education.The contents and methods of narration are two basic issues of narrative moral education,its successfully carrying out can be influenced by narrator’s knowledge,personality and social influence.The present three methods of moral education have met different degree of difficulties:classroom teaching,reasoning things out,practice education.All these difficulties push our educators to seek the conjunction of something right and something useful.Though the contents and the methods are both important,sometimes the methods turn out to be more significant compared with the contents.I insist that narrative moral education be enforcing-choice when the contents are right but without working.However,this enforcing-choice is an active choice to pursue for good results adopted by educators.This thesis is based on four articles I published on Guangming Daily and two articles I published on China Education Daily,in which I mentioned the application of narrative of moral education by storytelling method,problem-solving in situation,reasoning with "one move" and network narration.Chapter VI discusses the assessment of narrative moral education method,in order to reveal its social value by study the process and outcome.Narrative of moral education combines the process and outcome,which is in accordance with both the educational laws and purposes,and it is the unit of reality effect and potential development.The purpose of narrative of moral education method is to benefit educatees by internalizing the idea in their minds,practice by their actions,then getting a good habit.Meanwhile,narrative moral education method can change and improve both the ideas and methods of education.The assessment of narrative of moral education method aims to improve the methods,to facilitate the process,to achieve successful and long-lasting result.The highlights of this thesis include:combine the moral education with literature and linguistics,gain experience from relevant subjects;based on three articles I published on Guangming Daily,I focuse on the application of narrative moral education by storytelling method,problem-solving in situation,reasoning with "one move";I pointe out that we should assess both educatees and educators in the part of the assessment of narrative moral education method.It is important for educators to follow standard operation during the moral education,and their deliberate or unintentional changes of behaviors and words during the education should also be assessed.Most cases mentioned in the thesis are from my working experience. |
