Research On The Cultivation Of College Students' Good Social Mentality

Social mentality,as a special mental phenomenon,has an important effect on people's personality development and their real life.People are consciously and unconsciously affected by customs,culture,and systems between emotional life and rational life;in this process,a group-specific social mentality is taking shape.Healthy or good mentality can give people goals and motivation of life.Co-existing with human society,social mentality is mental state of groups with certain social universality in human practices.As China is in a transitional period,social mentality has an unalienable inner relationship with social consensus,social ethos,social emotion and social action,featuringimmediacy,activity,and variability.With the effects of social consensus,social ethos and social emotion,this mental state of groups can be categorized as good or bad,and positive or negative.As college students are the reserves and major forces of future construction and development of our socialism,their social mentality is an issue of vital concern not only to social stability but also to the cultivation of highly-competent people and the social development of China in the future.Most of the existing studies of college students' social mentality are the researches and analyses of the real conditions of college students' social mentality,in want of detailed and in-depth study on the contents,carriers and ways of their social mentality cultivation.Adoptingtheoretical analysis and empirical research method,this thesis studies the effects of society,school,family and cultural environment on college students' social mentality,and analyzes the variable process of their inner mentality,on the basis of which this thesis is to study the goals and contents,to explore the optimized carriers,and to offer the suggestions of rational and valuable ways for the cultivation of college students' good social mentality.This thesis consists of six chapters: Chapter One is mainly about the basic theories of social mentality study.From the perspective of connotation,social mentality,in a specific period or different events,is a specific groups' mental proneness or mental state which consists of social value,social motivation,social needs,social adaptation and other factors,explicitly characterized by social vogue,social ethos,social cognition,social emotions and the feelings of social life.Social mentality is characterized by being practical,variable,mass,disperse,and reflective.It is both connected with and distinguished from social consensus,social ethos,social emotion and social psychology.Western Psychology History,Western Sociology,Social Psychology and Marxist Social Mentality provide significant theoretical resources and research methods for college students' social mentality cultivation.Chapter Two mainly talks about the value orientation and function realization of contemporary college students' social mentality cultivation.The goals of the cultivation are to cultivate college students' good mentality,such as ration and calmness,self-esteem and self-confidence,mental health and harmony,endeavor and diligence,opening and tolerance and aspiring mentality.The value of the cultivation lies in meeting objective needs of the current development,realizing the harmonious and steady development of colleges,and promoting the over-all growth and progress of college students.Cultivation of college students' social mentality is vital to the ideological and political education,which should in turn give full play to its functions in ideological enlightenment and psychological counseling.Chapter Three analyzes the status quo of the cultivation of the contemporary college students' social mentality.Empirical investigation and statistical analysis show that a series of problems exist in the cultivation of students' social mentality such as the unsatisfactory cultivation effects,inadequate cultivation system of contents,the deficient cultivation carrier,and inappropriate cultivationways.The influencing factors of college students' social mentality cultivation are complicated,including negative effects of social environment,improper school education,and long-term absence of family education and adverse cultural environment.Chapter Four focuses on the construction of the contentsystem of the cultivation of college students' social mentality.In order to establish a reasonable and complete system of the cultivation of college students' social mentality,we should firstly determine the principleof content construction.When choosing the contents of cultivation,we should abide by the principles of guiding ideology,era development and cultivating objects.Therefore,a complete content system of college students' social mentality cultivation should center on the internalization of Marxism standpoints,viewpoints and methods,the identification of socialist core values,the formation ofcivic ethics and moral behaviors,the establishment of idealistic ideas of “China Dream”,the historical cognition and inheritance of excellent Chinese traditional culture,the comforting and adjustment of healthy mentality.All of the contents are to realize the cultivation goals with effective carriers.Chapter Five is mainly about the optimization of the cultivation carrier of college students' social mentality.The cultivation carriers of college students' social mentality mainly involve classroom,psychological counselling,cultural carriers,new media,activities,and management carriers,etc.Each type of the carrier has its own characteristics and advantages and joint efforts should be made to achieve the goal.Therefore,the principles of optimization of cultivation should be definite: to meet practical needs,to be content-orientedand goal-oriented,and to use science and technology.By integrating resources,we can optimize carriers of classroom education,psychological adjustment,campusculture,modern media,practical activities and school management,to exert combo effects of multi-carriers.Chapter Six centers on the strategies and suggestions for improving the cultivation effect of college students' social mentality.It is worthwhile to think seriously about how to improve real effect on the cultivation of contemporary college students' good social mentality.Thus this thesis not only considers the ways,but also the strategies of concrete actions.The choice of ways should take social needs as the premise,take the cultivation of social cognition as the basis,take the adjustment of social emotions as the means,and take the guide of social values as the key point.Some action strategies should be fully considered and implemented to construct a qualified training and education team,to build a dynamic evaluation system of college students' social mentality,to timely apply psychological treatment to college students to cultivate positive mentality.The cultivation goals of college students' social mentality can be achieved with reasonable ways and effective strategies.
