Based on the difficulties in the development and reform of current undergraduate education, thought on the undergraduate education, and lessons learned on the experience of international higher education, this paper focuses on the relationship between the training and demand of employability. It compares the importance of abilities between colleges and workplace, and probes into the problems and their causes in the development of sdudents' abilities, from the perspective of graduates' employability.Based on this,it examines the relationship between higher education and social needs, and explores possible ways for undergraduate talent training reform. The evidence used is based on quantitative data. The sources mainly include graduate surveys, data mining of online recruitment information, and some open data.First, this article reviews the existing studies on graduates' employability and related topics.Based on this,it establishes a theoretical framework and analytical mothod on the relationship between the training of employability and demand.Second,in the context of the history of undergraduate education, the characteristics of the evolution of undergraduate education and its connections with professions were analyzed,in order to provide a basis for the analysis of the reality.Third,it uses multiple datas to present the demand of employability skills. And through the analysis of differences,a more detailed description is made.Fourth, through the comparison of the training and demand of employability skills, the problems of undergraduate training are presented.Fifth, the attribution analysis is mainly made from the talent cultivation process factors and labor market transformation factors. Finally,in light of the characteristics of the era and possible changes in the future, the social role of undergraduate education and the possible direction of reform will be rethought. The research mainly draws the following conclusions.First,in the context of the shift from industrial economy to knowledge-based economy and the change in the nature of the work, skills needed in the workplace tend to be more comprehensive, and the the requirements for the practical and general skills are especially increasing.Second, there is an overall imbalance between the cultivation and demand of employability skills. There is a certain absence of training for the employability of colleges, and there are certain gaps between the focus of supply and demand.Third, the specific representation of the relationship between the training and demand of employability skills is complex, and the matching gap between various abilities has certain differentiation and structural differences in different employment departments.Fourth,on the whole, the extracurricular activities have a prominent influence on the gap between the training and demand of skills;for engineering graduates, poor practice is an important reason for the lack of the training of skills.Fifth,in addition to the talent cultivation factors, the imbalance between the training and demand of employability skills is also related to the factors of labor market change. The larger the proportion of the increase in the number of employees, the greater gap between them.Combined with historical development and related theories, this paper discusses the orientation of undergraduate education and its relationship with social needs.First, the relationship between the undergraduate education and the labor market should be viewed in a developing way.It is the general trend to strengthen the relationship between the undergraduate education and the demand of the labor market, which is mainly reflected in the cultivation of the related skills in the workplace.Secondly, the change of demand of labor market is also increasing, and the skills of different orientations such as academic, social and practical tends to merge.Third, the deep reason that leads to the imbalance between the training and demand of skills lies in the the decline in the quality of personnel training in universities and the lag in personnel training reform, which is caused by the development logic of extension and academicization, combined with the rapidly changing labor market demand.Fourth,in the face of increasing external demand pressures for undergraduate education, attention needs to be paid to protect teacher's autonomy and creativity.Besides, employability is not enough to become the whole focus of undergraduate education.Undergraduate education in China is urgent to take effective measures to deal with the demand for graduates' employability in the changing labor market. This study discusses the possible direction for the reform of undergraduate talent training, and based on the findings, suggestions for enhancing the employability are proposed. To provide the necessary skills preparation for the long-term career development of the learners is the responsibility of the current and future undergraduate education. It is necessary to integrate hard and soft skills in training of talents, and provide diversified development paths. To enhance the graduates' employability,it is necessary to deepen the reform in the teaching, extracurricular and practice in the cooperation of universities, government and employers.
