At present, China's economic development has entered the new normal, as an important carrier of population and industry agglomeration, urban agglomeration has become the core growth pole of regional economic development in China, and a reasonable and orderly spatial organization is an important source of efficiency improvement. Taking 20 urban agglomerations in China as the research objects, the thesis selects size, centricity, primacy ratio, dispersion, gini coefficient of urban scale and spatial interaction as the indexes to measure the spatial structure of urban agglomeration, while choosing total factor productivity as a indicator of urban agglomeration economic efficiency, then build the regression equation of their influencing relation through fixed effects regression model, and analyze the result of the effects. The thesis is consist of six chapters, which are divided into three parts. Specifically as follows:The first part includes chapter 1 and chapter 2. First clear the research background and significance of the thesis, then define the concept and connotation of urban agglomeration spatial structure and economic efficiency, finally, the paper generalizes the basic theory and research progress. The second part is from the third to the fifth, as the main part of this paper.Chapter 3. Determine 20 urban agglomerations in China as the research objects of this article, and select indicators from multiple dimensions to describe urban agglomeration spatial structure, and analyze the characteristics. Specific performances: the spatial structure of urban agglomerations has obvious differences and different changing trends; urban agglomerations in China present a monocentric-agglomeration spatial organization form; Indexes are associated with the initial conditions of urban agglomerations; The polarization characteristics of urban agglomerations spatial structure in the western region of China is becoming more and more obvious. According to the monocentricity-polycentricity dimension and centralization-decentralization dimension, spatial structure of urban agglomerations in 2012 is divided into four types.Chapter 4. As an indicator to characterize economic efficiency of urban agglomeration, total factor productivity of urban agglomerations in China from 2000 to 2012 is calculated by using the malmquist index method and is decomposed into four parts:the technical efficiency, technological progress, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency, to analyze the source of total factor productivity changing. Finally conclude the main characteristics of economic efficiency in urban agglomerations:the total factor productivity of urban agglomerations in China is generally low, and presents the downward trend; Technological progress insufficient drive is the key reason of the total factor productivity decrease; The efficiency of urban agglomerations changes differently, and it has obvious spatial differentiation pattern; Spatial agglomeration has obvious correlation effect with the total factor productivity.Chapter 5. Focus on the impact relations of urban agglomeration spatial structure and the economic efficiency. Through the establishment of regression model, the results obtained are as follows:monocentricity can improve the economic efficiency, but the effect is not significant; Agglomeration can significantly promote the ascent of the total factor productivity; Urban agglomeration scale can significantly improve economic efficiency, and plays a decisive role in the impact of monocentricity and agglomeration on economic efficiency; The influence that interaction among the cities on the economic efficiency proves the existing of urban economic externality. The third part is chapter 6, the main conclusions, deficiency and innovation point.
