Research On Furniture Kansei Design Evaluation Based On Material Visual Perception

The choice of visual perception of materials in furniture design directly affects the results of furiture Kansei design evaluation.This study aims to provide furniture designers with more objective and quantitative methods for material evaluation,optimization and innovation.This thesis takes Kansei engineering as the research foundation,analyzed the process of material visual perception affecting the evaluation of furniture Kansei design.Then,the furniture Kansei design evaluation process based on material visual perception was established.Meanwhile,the established evaluation process was verified by a case of Kansei design of wooden kitchen cabinets for young people.The main findings of this paper are as follows:(1)Analysis of the theoretical connotation of the evaluation of the furniture Kansei materials design shows that people's understanding of material imagery is expained as input through human behavioral sense,and aesthetic and perceptual output.Then,it becomes a process of emotional experience.In addition,the imagery function of furniture contains two aspects of physical and psychological functions,and the combination of its two attributes constitutes a comprehensive image of furniture.The evaluation of furniture Kansei design based on material imagery should be carried out in a specific "Person-Furniture-Environment" context.Moreover,it contains two aspects,which are image evaluation of furniture materials design and evaluation of material imagery,and then obtain the evaluation of Kansei design of furniture materials.(2)Through the interpretation of the evaluation connotation and the analysis of the theoretical methods related to Kansei engineering,the process and methods of furniture Kansei design evaluation based on material visual perception is constructed.The process cantains three aspaect,which are visual material perception of furniture materials optimal,the material visual perception evaluation with semantic fractal evaluation and the material visual perception ERPs evaluation.The visual perception of materials consists of three characteristics:color,texture and gloss.The visual perception of furniture materials have five dimensions:practicality,aesthetics,environmental protection,economy and culture.Based on those studies,the positive-negative semantic dimension evaluation scale was constructed,and the visual evaluation model of furniture material was established.(3)Using the established evaluate process,taking the design of young wooden kitchen cabinets as an application case,the feasibility of the design evaluation process was verified.The results shows that the importance of material visual perception design image of kitchen cabinet furniture materials toward young people are environmental protection(24.11%)>practicality(21.52%)>economic(19.97%)>aesthetic(18.8%)>cultural(15.6%).The black walnut material with radial texture brightening has the highest evaluation in the design of kitchen cabinet furniture for young people among the selected wood materials.The interaction of color and gloss are the most important factors affecting the visual perception evaluation of wood materials.The effect of texture on the visual perception of wood materials is not significant,and it is a higher level of neurocognition compared with color and gloss variables.In addition,the mismatch between wood visual perception and memory image may lead to greater P200,while the more familiar wood perception may result in a larger frontal area N200.
