Toys and parents are indispensable factors of children in pre-school stage. However, toy design of domestic cannot fully meet physical development needs of children and the higher standard demand of parents for toy now. This article introduce the concept of Kansei Engineering into parent-child toy design, by obtaining toy design elements, designed parent-child toys to meet the sensibility needs of both parents and children.Design method of Kansei Engineering is a method can accurately measure human’s sensibility for product through scientific methods, then translated quantifiable sensibility into the elements of product design. The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)After completed the process of parent-child toys’ Kansei Engineering design method by analyzing the main elements of Kansei Engineering design method, improved Kansei Engineering model for the case of separated toy buyers and users;(2)Analyzed parents’ sensibility need of parent-child toy, specific content included collection and determination of sensibility word of parent-child toy, samples’ selection of parent-child toy, establishment of semantic differential scaling method, analysis of data and obtained paternity toy’s design elements of parent are interaction, growth, multifunctional, intelligence helpful;(3)Analyzed children’s sensibility need of parent-child toy, specific content included analyzed children’s development characteristic of physical and psychological, determined part human-machine size of the toy through children limbs’ scope of activities. Obtained conclusions that material of parent-child toy should choose mild materials, colors should choose brightness and high purity color, shape should choose abstract geometric image. Then determined the design elements of parent-child toys by analyzing the results of the two parts comprehensively, design elements of parent-child toy incorporate interaction, growth, safe, fun, multifunctional, intelligence helpful, children will soon not love play, human-machine size of toy should be suitable for children’s development.In summary, this paper acquired the parent-child toy design elements based on Kansei Engineering design methodology. By determining the target population and the parent-child toy design elements of concrete, completed the parent-child toy design. Utilized product semantics differential scaling method to verified this parent-child toy can meet the needs both parent and children.
