Research On The Regional Landscape Of Wenzhou Coastal Hilly Plain Areas

Rapid urbanization in China has made remarkable achievement.It improves urban and rural environment significantly and people’s life quality steadily.But in the meanwhile,rapid urbanization and new rural construction also threat the diverse and unique regional landscape above the vast land.The protection and development of regional landscape is very important and urgent,because it is not only the key to maintain the characteristics of landscape diversity in China,but also related to the survival of Chinese local culture.Conduct in-depth research of regional landscape to clarify its development process and core characteristics and learn from the ancient people about the unique perspective and valuable experience in coordinating the relationship between people and land,is an important subject to Landscape Architecture.Zhejiang-Fujian hilly regions carries a variety of regional landscape types because of the undulating hills,variegated rivers,twisting coastline and the pressure of being a densely populated area.This dissertation takes the regional landscape of Wenzhou coastal hilly plain areas before the end of Qing Dynasty(before 1912)as research object,which is one of the typical examples of diversiform regional landscape types in Zhejiang-Fujian hilly regions.Firstly,it clarifies the natural geography characteristics through different environmental factors analysis and the regional development history through multi-stage study to summarize the main influence of each natural and cultural factors in different landscape developing periods.Based on the fundamental research,this dissertation views the regional landscape as the interconnecting result of natural landscape,water conservancy construction,agricultural production and urban and rural construction.And secondly,this dissertation carries out the hierarchical analysis on regional landscape of Wenzhou coastal hilly plain areas by using the local chronicle,chorographic maps,military mapping figure,old photos and other historical material.This part of study includes natural landscape aspect from hill and river summary,water conservancy construction aspect from facility system and management system,agricultural production aspect from farmland construction,crop cultivation and agricultural tools and urban and rural construction aspect form cities,coast defense stations and villages.This dissertation further summarizes the regional landscape system to two aspects,the overall pattern and city image.It generalizes overall pattern of the regional landscape of Wenzhou coastal hilly plain areas in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China which is relatively stable and mature as five points.They are hills as essential,rivers as network,agriculture as foundation,cities and coast defense stations as settlement and humanity culture to complete the artistic conception.And it subdivides the city image into four cities as Yongjia,Ruian,Pingyang and Yueqing.After fully understanding about the differences and similarities in regional landscape characteristics about cities,coast defense stations and villages,this dissertation based on the perspective that cities coordinates the coast defense stations and villages,explores the four cities traditional eight sights and carried out a detailed interpretation about main landscape images by using historical materials.Finally,this dissertation describes briefly about study object’s recent development from external expansion and internal change,investigates the dramatic impact to regional landscape under the new background,for example,the alienation of human and nature,the dilution of agriculture,the disintegration of urban defense system and the change of aesthetic interest.And then,from the Landscape Architecture characteristic and perspective,this dissertation puts forward four expectations to regional landscape protection and development:preserve first,choose the important area to repair,adapt the traditional landscape to new developing period and learn from ancient.The innovation of this dissertation lies in the following aspects:1.Results innovation.This dissertation is a foundational research in typical landscape sample of Zhejiang-Fujian hilly regions.To some extent,it fills up the vacancy of regional landscape of Wenzhou coastal hilly plain areas.2.Method innovation.This dissertation presents the important values in chorographic maps and eight sights to construct the traditional landscape images and explores the research methods appropriate for China’s regional landscape systems.3.Research ideas extension.This dissertation breaks the boundaries between urban and rural areas and develops the layer system in vernacular landscape to the multi-level coupling superposition of regional landscape research as natural landscape,water conservancy construction,agricultural production and urban and rural construction.
