Research On The History Of Taiyuan Urban Planning And Construction In Modern Times(1881-1949)

Since modern times,due to the development of industry and commerce,the eastern coastal cities have undergone profound changes,and also have a profound impact on the inland cities.At the same time,the Western planning ideas also have a profound impact on urban planning and construction in China.As an inland city,Taiyuan has changed a lot with the urban spatial pattern and style with the development of modern economy and society.However,due to the special political and military environment,the planning and construction of Taiyuan also presents many unique features.This paper takes the planning and construction of modern Taiyuan City as the research object.Under the guidance of the scientific theory of human settlements environment,use the methods of historical geography,new historiography,literature research,field research,comparative analysis,etc comprehensively.This paper digests the historical data of modern urban planning and construction of Taiyuan systematically and sorts out the development context of modern urban planning ideas of Taiyuan.The context reveals the development process of independent construction and innovation of Taiyuan under complex social environment,then forms a theoretical understanding of modern planning ideas,construction characteristics and implementation motivation of Taiyuan.On the basis of studying the complex social background of modern Taiyuan,it takes the time sequence of urban development as the longitude and the key elements of urban planning and construction(institutions,planning,construction,idea,character,etc.)as the latitude.This paper analyzes the landscape and cultural space and the development and evolution of ancient cities,and sums up the geographical,human and planning basis of modern Taiyuan city development.Through the basic research of modern development process,this paper divides the modern Taiyuan city planning process into four stages: the preliminary exploration of Taiyuan city modernization in the late Qing Dynasty(1881-1911),the active development of the modern Taiyuan city planning and construction(1912-1937),Taiyuan's urban planning and construction under Japanese occupation(1937-1945),Taiyuan's urban planning and construction from the victory of the AntiJapanese War to the founding of new China(1945-1949);and expounds its development characteristics from the aspects of key events,elements and figures of urban planning and construction.On this basis,this paper reveals the modernization and original Characteristics of localization and diversified planning ideas of modern Taiyuan's urban planning and construction.Based on the collation of the historical materials of modern urban planning and construction in Taiyuan,this paper systematically combs the development of modern urban planning in Taiyuan,puts forward the historical stages of modern urban planning and reveals the historical characteristics of Taiyuan's social,political,economic and urban planning and construction evolution.Through the exploration of the precious historical documents of urban planning and construction in Taiyuan,this paper has a great significance to the study of the history of modern inland urban planning and construction in China.Furthermore,this paper puts forward ‘change and invariance,humanization of human mind,inheritance and renaissance of culture,heritage preservation' as the modern enlightenment of Taiyuan's urban planning and construction,which is important to the contemporary urban planning and construction in Taiyuan.
