Research On Shushu Thought In Huangdi Neijing

Numerology refers to the special knowledge of studying the changing law of universe with numbers as a tool to deduce and predict the future of human affairs.In the broad sense,Numerology includes astronomy,calendar spectrum,mathematics,geography and other related knowledge,as well as all kinds of divination.In the narrow sense,numerology refers to various divination.The number of numerology refers to a specific measure rule extracted from the existence state and change law of all things in the universe.It can be quantitative or qualitative.It included the number of tai chi,the number of yin-yang,the number of the five elements,the number of the eight diagrams,the number of Hetu and Luoshu,the number of Chinese era,etc.This paper focuses on the analysis of Numerology theory in the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine,which is represented by Numbers.The numerology theory is an important frame for the theoretical system construction of the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine.By means of text analysis and logical analysis,this paper comprehensively reviewed the contents related to the numerology theory in the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine.Taking the practical knowledge of astronomy as a clue,the research is mainly carried out from the following four parts:1 The first part is about the core elements of numerology theory.As the core element of numerology theory,numbers has the following three characteristics: numbers can be divided into three levels of astronomy,geography,and human being,the number of human being originate from the number of astronomy and geography,and the number of astronomy and geography originates from the astronomical observation.Numbers in the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine have many functions,such as calculation,marking order and rules,reasoning,communication with astronomy and geography,and prediction.2 The second part is about basic application of numerology theory.The numerology theory run through all aspects of the theoretical construction of traditional Chinese medicine.Using numbers as a bone,it connects the information of seasons,climate,geographical environment,location,phenology and personnel changes with human physiology and pathology,etc.to construct a numerology human life model.Numbers are involved in various aspects of human body structure,physiological rhythm,disease occurrence,development,change rules,diagnosis methods,treatment methods and other relevant theories.3 The third part is the origin of numerology theory.The knowledge related to astronomical practice is the basis of all the knowledge in the era of the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine.The basic contents of astronomy in the period of the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine include cosmology,timing method,calendar,formula and mathematics.In the Huangdi's Canon on Medicin,1 to 12 are the high frequency Numbers used in numerology theory,while other integers or fractions are mostly their logical operations.Number of human and universe are related in the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine,and mostly derived from astronomical practices.The activities of celestial bodies such as sun,moon and stars determine the appearance of earth environment that human beings rely on for survival,including topography,light,temperature,climate,species,and their change rules,etc.And therefore influence medical theory and practice.Different numbers derived from different astronomical practices,such as time service by Big Dipper,shadow measure by gnomon-and-ruler,and etc.Numbers are mutually related.It establish a simple and effective model of human by numbers.4 The fourth part is the discussion of the related problems of numerology theory.This chapter mainly discusses the three problems: first,the formation of numerology theory is mainly due to the fact that the movement of celestial bodies determines the state of the environment on which human beings live.The low productivity and the heavy pressure of kingship in the era of the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine increased the dependence of human beings on the environment.The knowledge related to astronomy was the most important knowledge in that era.Second,numerology theory used numbers as the bond to connect the astronomy,geography,and human being.It regarded knowledge of astronomy and geography as the law discipline,and attached great importance to the deduction.Third,numerology theory in he Huangdi's Canon on Medicine has it's advantages and disadvantages,we should view it objectively.Most numbers in the Huangdi's Canon on Medicine come from astronomical practice.It made numerology theory have certain reliability,accuracy and stability,as well as be helpful to grasp the space-time rhythm of human body,and the relationship between human structure and function and the nature and social environment.For another,the setting of the mathematical model and the identification and agreement of the humanistic background also make the model easy to go on the way of infinite deduction and forced comparison,and produce some formalized theories lacking of practical operation,which is not conducive to the development of the discipline itself.
