| Life cannot do without money,researchers have begun to focus on the influence of money concepts on individual psychological environment in recent years.As a typical feature of the market model,the concept of money and maximize the value of the concept of money will contact close,and priming money would activate the utility mode,motivate individuals to make decisions from the point of utility size or revenue size.Previous studies found that the money priming can reduce the pro-social behavior such as help and donations.This study is based on a review of the previous studies,using the priming paradigm and event-related potential technology to research the money priming impact on helping behavior and the mental mechanism.Through 6experiments,the role of self correlation and empathy on money priming influence helping behavior,as well as the characteristics of high and low self-esteem individuals on helping behavior will be investigated in the research.Experiment 1 used priming paradigm to investigate the impact of money priming on helping behavior.Results found that with the help of proportion and reaction time,money priming group of individuals are significantly less than the control group.The results showed that in the money priming,the proportion of helping behavior of the individuals is reduced.Experiment 2 studied the effect of self correlation on the money prime influence helping behavior.The results found that in high self-related conditions,there was no significant difference between the money group and the control group in the proportion of helping behavior.In low self-related conditions,the proportion of help in the money group is smaller than the control group.The results showed that,under the condition of money prime,the helping behavior of the individual is significantly reduced,this shows that the obvious money priming effect,and this money priming effect can be moderated by self correlation.When helping low self-related person(such as a strangers),money priming will reduce the helping behavior,while helping high self-related person(such as close friends),the influence of money priming on helping behavior is weakened.Experiment 3 using the event-related potentials technique to study the money priming,the neural mechanism of self correlation effect of helping behavior.The results found that the main effect of money priming was significantly,means compared with the control group,when the subjects helped acquaintances evoked P260 average amplitude was significantly smaller than that of close friends and strangers in the money group,but the P260 average amplitude had no significant difference on friends and strangers.Compared with the control group,helping acquaintances evoked N2 average amplitude was significantly greater than friends and strangers in the money group,but the N2 average amplitude had no significant difference on the close friend and strangers.Compared with the control group,helping acquaintances induced late negative component was larger than that on friends and strangers in money group,but there was no significant difference of the average amplitude on close friends and strangers.The results showed that in medium self-related person,the N2 components,P260 component and late negative component was greater than other self-related person,which showed that individuals elicited strong emotional experience in the early stage of helping others and strong cognitive conflict in the late stage of helping others.When helping medium self-related people,self correlation moderated the impact of money priming on helping behavior.Experiment 4 used priming paradigm,discussed the role of empathy and self correlation on money priming influenced helping behavior.The results showed that empathy and money prime have significant interaction effect.Compared to the control group,when the individuals helped high self-related people,the difference was not significant of the money priming on empathy group.Compared to the control group,when the individuals helped low and medium self-related people,the difference was significant of the money priming on empathy group.The results showed that empathy and money priming influence helping behavior.When helping low self-related person,money priming reduced helping behavior,empathy effect on helping behavior was weakened.When helping medium self-related person,empathy group showed more helping behavior,money effect on helping behavior was weakened,and when helpinghigh self-related person,empathy and self correlation together influence the helping behavior of individuals,the influence of money prime on helping behavior has been weakened.Experiment 5 studied the role of empathy and self correlation on money priming influenced helping behavior from the electrophysiological level.Results found that the main effect of empathy was significant,means compared with the control group,empathy group in all conditions were induced P260,N2 and late negative component.Helping acquaintance evoked the amplitude was bigger than that of close friends and strangers,but there was no significant difference between the average amplitude of close friends and strangers.The results showed that when helping medium self-related person,empathy group evoked N2 components,P260 and late negative component was greater than that of control group,which indicated that in helping situations,the individual evoked strong emotional experience.When the object in the situation was in need of help,empathy individual was more likely to make help decision.When help medium self-related person,empathy has weakened the impact of money priming on helping behavior.Experiment 6 explored under the money priming,the characteristics of high and low self-esteem individuals on helping behavior.Results found that there was a significant difference between high and low self-esteem individuals in the proportion of help when the object was high and medium self-related,while there was no significant difference between high and low self-esteem individuals in low self-related person.Compared with control group,there was a significant difference between high and low self-esteem in money group.The results showed that under the money priming condition,the proportion of help in high self-esteem individuals were smaller than the low self-esteem,while for low self-esteem individuals,the impact of money priming on helping behavior was weakened.These results suggested that:(1)Whether or not the money priming,compared with strangers,participants would like to help friends and acquaintances,and the decision-making process would be more faster.(2)Compared with the control group,the reaction time to help close friends was faster than acquaintances,and the reactiontime to help strangers was also faster than acquaintances.That means money priming weakened the helping behavior of strangers.(3)Empathy and money priming together influence the helping behavior of individuals.When helping object was low self-related,the empathy effect on helping behavior was weakened,when the object was medium self-related,the money effect on helping behavior was weakened.(4)Different self-esteem individuals have different characteristics on helping behavior.Under money priming,high self-esteem individuals’ helping proportion was smaller than the low self-esteem.For the low self-esteem individuals,the influence of money priming on helping behavior was weakened.(5)In the early stages of the helping behavior,when that involving strangers induced greater emotional reaction(P260components).While in the late stages,the neural responses evoked by conflict resolution(late slow wave)would be moderated by self correlation,which will consume more cognitive resources to weigh whether to help strangers. |
