The Narrative Construction Theory

Nowadays,narrative research has pervaded in almost all fields of humanities,such as cultural narrative,historical narrative,news narrative,educational narrative,advertising narrative,political narrative,image narrative,musical narrative,media narrative,and even scientific narrative.This is not only a manifestation of the prevalence of today's narrative studies,and more importantly is the fact that the narrative factors spread all over the human cultural activities.In other words,the inherent narrative structure in human culture is the foundation of narrative research in various humanities.The narrativity in human culture is derived from the narrativity of human subjects since the human culture is the result of human activities.The narrative construction theory mainly researches in the relationship between subjective construction and narrative,and moreover,analyzing the narrative functions in subjective construction.This paper consists of five parts,subdivided into seven chapters.The first part reviews the history of narrative construction theory,and the other four parts discuss the function of narrative time,narrative image,narrative person and narrative media in subject construction from order of content to form.The first chapter gives a detailed overview of the origin,the development,and the prosperity of narrative constructivism,as well as the main scholars and their views,mainly in the chronological order,and the scholars and their research field as the stem branch,the concrete problems as the foliage.The second chapter discusses three closely related problems based on the theory of Freud's personality structure.That is,the role of narrative time in the process of the ego transform to the self,the way this self obtains narrative time through the narrative identification,and the narrative force which drives the narrative identification.The third chapter puts forward a narrative image as a temporal image which is based on the Lacan's mirror theory,and has three points of the similarities and two different points with Lacan's spatial mirror.The similarities are that they both are a kind of illusion,mis-recognition and the original forms of narcissism;and the differences are that the narrative image is a temporal image rather a spatial image,and the narrative image is a composite image rather a single image.The fourth and fifth chapters are based on Benveniste's theory of the relationship between the personal pronoun and the subject.These two chapters explore the internal temporal logic of narrative person,which is the first person in the teleological logic,the third person in the original logic,and the second person in the communicative logic,and research the relationship between the first person and the third person,the first person and the second person,the second person and the third person.The sixth and seventh chapters are rest on the theory of McLuhan's "media is the extension of man",discussing the influence on human subjects both in synchronic and diachronic aspects which brought by the transformation of narrative media,and particularly inquiring the virtualization of human identity influenced by the new media interactive narrative.
