A Comparative Study Of Shui Characters And Ancient Yi Characters

Shui characters and ancient Yi characters belong to different stages of ideo-soundgraphic writing system.There is a lack of phonogram in both writing systems.They are related to ancient Chinese characters.They are thpical writing systems in the history of writing.This paper aimed to compare the Shui characters and ancient Yi characters to find commonness and differences on the method of acter making,the symbol body,the corresponding relationship between acter symbols and language units by combing quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis.And on the basis,we discuss some related problems about the writing theoretical and the history of development of character.Based on the researches done before,thispaper deciphers the pictophonetic characters in the following aspects:1.To quantitative the charactes materials.It is mainly analyzed the strokes,components of Shui acters and ancient Yi characters for the application of character materials.It is mainly analyzed the variant characters in literature for the application of documents.2.To analyze the character system and the symbol body based on documents written by Shui chracters and Yi chracters.It is mainly analyzed the nature,acteristics and stage of these two writings.3.To analyze the relationship between Shui characters and ancient Yi characters on the basis of Jiezi and synonymy comparison.It is mainly analyzed the diversity propagation modes of charactes.4.To analyze the variant characters in documents,exploring the complexity of grapheme,pronunciation and meaning in characters.we discuss some related problems about the writing theoretical and the history of development of character based on comparative between Shui chracters and Yi chracters:1.To re-survey the property of character.A direct correspondence showed between early stage character and thinking,while it’s turned out the recorded tools of language.2.Thinking on core element in different characters development stage.The contradiction between grapheme,pronunciation and meaning in character is the inner dynamic of characters development,the change of the contradiction means different stage of characters.3.Inference in the two characters development.Shui characters may be ideo-phonographic writing.Depend on the developement of phonogram,Yi characters has two different choce: phonogram,phonography.4.To analyze the complexity of communication mode and method in characters.Jie zi in Shui characters bears different character development stage information.Similar srokes and components found in ancient Yi characters and ancient Chinese characters.Single characters borrowed from ancient Chinese to Shui characters.
