This thesis studies the history of China's northern Frontier from the ending of Chin Dynasty to the beginning of the great Mongol Empire. The thesis mainly includes the following aspects. The first chapter focuses on the governance system of Chin in the region before the Mongol invasion, especially on the duality of the governance system of Chin Dynasty in this region. The second chapter studies the conquest of the Mongol forces in this area, including the time, place and the process of the war,and the people who took part in wars between Mongol and Chin Dynasty. Some erroneous arguments have been corrected. The third chapter discusses the rule and defense of Mongol in this region. The early Empire of Mongol tended to use the surrenders. The people in that time generally had the power to rule the place. As the war progressed, those surrenders who had become the army commanders usually needed to take part in new wars, and some of them would become the rulers of the new occupied territories. In this chapter, but not every manager who participated in the governance of the region can be examined in detail. In one state(Zhou)or one county(Xian),only managers or rulers may be determined, while even no one can be checked out in some areas.Although some people and their deeds have been researched in this article,a large number of ordinary people who lived in this region can not be researched out.It often happens in the course of history,we can only get historical fragments, not the whole history.Only the groups who have achieved remarkable achievements can remark their names in the pages of history.
