Book As Art:on The Chinese Traditional String-bound Book(1911-1949)

After the middle Ming,the notion of book being a kind of art had developed.However,Chinese book experienced a huge change in the Republic of China as the Western binding style became a mainstream in book printing.In order to prevent Chinese traditional-type book,some tread-bound books,which had academic and artistic merit,were published by Chinese elites at that time.In this thesis,the tread-bound books published in the Republic of China and the notion of book being art was researched with the examples of Tao Xiang,Lu Xun,Zhen Zhengduo,Zhou Shutao,and Wu Hufan.
