As modern technology developing rapidly, there is a growing demand on the artistry of paper books. E-boo ks on phones and computers can only satisfy the information needs, but paper books have something beyon d simply offering information, that is the aesthetic value. This paper emphasized on the research of hand-m ade book ridge designing. Hand-made book binding designing is different from the designing of standard m achine printing and large quantity of publishing in that the former is more flexible, more personal, and offer s broader space for designers on book ridges. Discovering experimental, creative, artistic and interesting bi nding designing is the focus of this paper. The book binding method talked in this paper is mainly western sewing design, embroidering graphs on bo ok ridges or even covers and back covers. Meanwhile, broke the fix pattern of it, and brought Chinese threa d-bound designing into aesthetic discussion. It mainly studied the application of new ways of thread-bound designing on book ridges or covers and other covers, including using solid lines to make images, involving using every possible materials(with different color, thickness, texture,etc.) into binding designing to make a new way of expression. The paper dug deeply into hand-made thread-bound book ridge designing and mad e new approaches for the tendency of development of book designing.
