Interrogative are very common sentences, the frequency of using them in daily life and in communication is quite high. The main purpose of the interrogative is the interrogator will ask about unknown things and hope that the listener will answer. There are five types of Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative:yes-no questions, special questions, alternative questions, positive and negative questions, rhetorical questions.Although each kind of interrogative has a unique syntactic form and answering method, but they also have the same point is that the end of the sentence is generally with a modal particle.Of course, whether to use modal particles at the end of the sentence is not the focus, but the point is that the question mark must be put at the end of the question, and the intonation of the sentence must also be a rising tune. There are many linguistic experts and researchers who have studied modem Chinese interrogative and have also obtained many valuable research achievements up to now. After reading the articles of the predecessors' interrogative research and adding my own practical experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the author believes that the comparative study of Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative has not been thoroughly completed. In order to analyze and compare the interrogative in the Chinese and Vietnamese languages more comprehensively, the author will summarize, contrast and analyze the syntactic structure of each type of Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative. This paper firstly uses the quantitative statistical method to collect the information and articles about the Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative, and then conducts statistics and induction to lay the foundation for the research content. The corpus collected in this paper is mainly from modern Chinese grammar textbooks and books that published by famous Chinese linguists, journals or publications published by linguists and researchers, academic journals on China Knowledge Network,Master and Doctoral theses, the Modem Chinese Corpus of the Department of Linguistics of Central China Normal University and the Modem Chinese Corpus of the Chinese Linguistics Research Center of Peking University. In addition, this article also searches for related corpora through some famous Chinese websites such as People.cn,Xinhua Net,Baidu,Google and other search tools. Then, this paper uses the language contrast analysis method to analyze the syntactic structure of Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative as the focus of comparative analysis, pointing out the similarities and differences between two languages. This article "A contrastive study of the interrogative in Chinese and Vietnamese" is divided into seven chapters,as follows:The first chapter:Introduction, mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the research, the research object, the research scope, the research methods, the source of the corpus in Chinese and Vietnamese languages, the innovation and the structural framework of the paper. The second chapter:the research status of Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative, mainly reading, collecting, analyzing, synthesizing and summarizing the research achievements of predecessors and research circles on Chinese and Vietnamese interrogative. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters:Based on the theory of language, the author compares the yes-no questions, special questions, alternative questions, positive and negative questions in Chinese and Vietnamese respectively, mainly analyzing and comparing the similarities and differences in questioning means, syntactic structure and pragmatic functions between two languages. The seventh chapter:Conclusion, summarizing the main contents and viewpoints of this paper, pointing out the shortcomings of this paper and the prospects of subsequent research.
