A Comparative Study Of Lao Chinese Interrogative Sentences

This article mainly analyses the characters of interrogative sentence of Lao and Chinese language,including interrogative words,syntax and pragmatics.Lao language is the same type with chinese,also has close connection with chinese minority language,especially with Zhuang Dong languages.Nowadays China and Laos has more science education communication than before,but the study of Lao language is relatively lagging.Including the study of interrogative sentence,there are still more areas need to be expanded.This article take syntactical structure of Lao and Chinese interrogative sentence as main objection.To discover the similarities and differences,this article tries to compare the sentence classification of Lao with Chinese.The research finds that there are many differences between Lao and Chinese specific interrogative sentences,for example,when experessing time and place,the Chinese use "?????"(When+Come),meanwhile Lao usually say "?????"(Come+When),the Chinese use"????"(Go+Where+Play),Lao usually say"????"(Go+ Play+Where);there are also some differences in grammar,such as "How",the Chinese use"???????"(She +makeup+?+How),meanwhile Lao do not need to use"?",as it has no grammatical concepts like this,but will add"?"(is)to helpexpression,"???????"(She +Makeup+Is +How).In yes-or-no interrogative sentence,corresponding to Chinese "Ma" and"Ba" and "ah",Lao has many expression.Lao positive and negativeinterrogative sentence has less then Chinese,and alternativeinterrogative sentence,Lao and Chinese are basically the same,using conjunction "or".But the different,alternativeinterrogative sentence in the Lao language has evolved into yes-or-no interrogative sentence,or equivalent of saying"???(Or Ma?)","???(Or not?)".In the aspect of pragmatics,the function of interrogative sentence of Lao and Chinese is very similar.In this paper,on the basis of comparison,summed up features and differences of the Lao and Chinese interrogative sentence,and puts forward the teaching suggestions,provides some help to Lao students learning Chinese and Chinese students learning Lao.
