History And Evolution In Researches Of Change Blindness

Consciousness is a hard problem,Change blindness is an interesting cognitive phenomenon in consciousness.It provides an effective way in visual information competition as same as dichotic listening test in the study of auditory information competition.On issue of representation,comparison and discrimination in visual information processing,the research of change blindness not only revealed how the mind works,but also provides an approach for naturalizing mental content.This paper includes two parts,the history of researches about change blindness and the rethink on the researches of change blindness.The part of history in researches of change blindness expounds history in three stages,trace back,establishment and development.In each stage,the changes of experimental method and variables in the experiment showed the characteristics of researches in change blindness from two aspects.In the aspect of experimental methods changes,the scholars obtained a large number of experimental data in information processing in multidimensional from the optical monitoring,Purkinje image tracking,EEG and other experimental methods.In the aspect of variable setting changes,the researchers changed the time of presentation,the visual stimuli and other variables to induce change of blindness.The aspects of experimental method and the variables in the experiment show the historical development in the researches of change blindness.Although the experimental researches on phenomenon of change blindness are very rich,but the cause of change blindness is still hanging in the wind.The part of rethink on researches of change blindness tries to explain consciousness based on the data of the researches in change blindness.In this part,from the perspective of theory of modularity of mind,explanation gap problem and information competition tries to rethink in change blindness on the aspects of functional explanation and the problem of information separating,combining,transmitting and exchanging.It's found that the hypothesis of hierarchy of visual information processing is easier to deal with the hard problem of consciousness compared with the neuronal correlates of consciousness.
