From the 17 th century to the mid-18 th century, the Tokugawa Shogunate era in Japan, that is Zhu Xi version,as an official ideology, was challenged by the ancient school and was also a historical period when the Sorai School dropped from prosperity to decline. This article combines the Ogyu Sorai's works at various stages,as well as the historical materials of life and activities, also examines the development process of Sorai School at this stage, and outlines the actual situation of Confucianism in modern Japanese society. On the one hand, the "Ritual and Music" thought constructed by Ogyu Sorai(1666-1728)and its administration theory make the Sorai school unique among Edo scholars. The "Ritual and Music" theory contains three aspects: First of all,"Ritual and Music" is at the core of the ideology system, and it is often equated with the "former king's way",that is,"the Taoist has the ritual and music".Secondly, the "Ritual and Music" is a kind of upbringing that can be practiced.Through the "teaching of ritual and music" to guide people to develop morality, that is,"four method of former kings",then "Ritual and Music" is a kind external moral norms.Third,"Ritual and Music" was transformed into the political concept of "Saisei Ittchi" as an ideal social system by Ogyu Sorai. What calls for special attention is that different from the Confucians in Japanese society who were keen on interpreting and practicing the "The Ethics of Family" at the time, the theory of Ogyu Sorai's "Ritual and Music" is not to recover the etiquette and provisions of ancient China, but to reconstruct ethics and social systems. The education carried out by the literary scholars(The four education ways of Sages),the politics(Three generations of memorial),and the external communication activities(the conversation by writing with North Korea scholars)were largely based on the premise of this theory.Regrettably, the theory of Ogyu Sorai's "Ritual and Music" had not been accepted by the Edo society.Since the period of Kansei, the Sorai School had gradually declined or even nobody cares. The reason is not only the intentional suppression of the shogunate, but also the negative effect brought by "Ritual and Music" was the root of the problem. The prologue reviews the study of Sorai School in Chinese and Japanese academic circles, clarifies the basic framework, research methods and research significance of the thesis, and analyzes the possibility of re-examining the Sorai School. It is believed that in the current situation that the prior research has been extremely adequate,It is possible to re-study the Sorai School, especially its "Ritual and Music" thoughts, from the perspective of East Asia. The first chapter mainly discusses the academic background and ideological origins of Ogyu Sorai, finds the the formation process of Sorai School by examining his life and communication. It is believed that the unique methodology of Sorai School should be partly attributed to his unique experience. At the same time, this paper believes that Zhu Xishui's ancient thoughts indirectly influenced Sorai,The importance of the "Zhu zi school",especially the Tsunzi's thought,in the early years, had the decisive influence on the formation of the Sorai school. The second chapter focuses on the classics of the Study of Confucian Classics and Confucianism in various stages, and discusses the main connotation and formation logic of the "Former king's way".It is believed that the understanding of "Tao" by Ogyu Sorai is not a one-step process. The formation of "Former king's way" was the result of the comprehensive disengagement from the Zhu Xi version system and methodology. The third chapter focuses on the content of the "Ritual and Music" of Ogyu Sorai.Sorai cultivated "Ritual and Music" as the norm of morality and social order. In addition to the above three aspects, the most important thing is that "Ritual and Music" actually implied another kind which beyond the paradigm of "Ritual and Music"-"Saisei Ittchi",under this system, the idea of minefield, feudalism, and peasant farming was also included, and Sorai believed that only Japan in the East Asian world has the possibility to achieve this system. The fourth chapter discusses the twists and turns of "Ritual and Music" theory.Investigating the activities of the Sorai school,we can find that no matter the "The teaching of ritual and music" as an educational practice or the reform of the Edo society ended in failure. On the other hand, after Sorai School was fashionable for a time,it suffered the double pressure from the Zhu Xi school and the shogunate in the period of Kansei. The "Ritual and Music" was gradually transformed into a kind of utilitarianism.Since that the Sorai School had been seen as the pursuit of fame and wealth. The conclusion aims to clarify the significance of modern Sorai School.
